A photo of a Persian cat with beautiful green eyes went viral last week and got the lucky stray his forever home, but it wasn’t his gorgeous eyes or fur that made him so popular, it was his sour puss.
Like the famous Grumpy Cat, who made her way to social media – and eventually endorsement – fame, this cat looks like he has a permanent scowl.

The 2-year-old cat was picked up as a stray by the New Hanover Sheriff’s Department Animal Control and introduced on their Facebook page: “This intense fellow is looking to find his forever family! We're not sure he's really thrilled with us at the moment because when he came to us he was really matted so we had to shave off his fur. Once his fur grows back, we think he'll be feeling more like the Persian royalty he knows he is!”
Later that day, workers made his photo into a meme that said, “I’m making this face until someone adopts me” and the photo took over the Internet.
The best news is that the organization announced that the sour looking feline was adopted on March 4. “Great news: our grumpy cat has been adopted! He will be living in Onslow County now. Congratulations grumpy cat!”
Of course, he had a parting meme with his same frown, “I got adopted. This is my happy face.”
