Lindsey Vonn Adopts Dog with Knee Injury
Friday, January 10, 2014
Lindsey Vonn may be sitting out the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia; however, she'll have some company because she adopted a shelter dog with a leg injury.
The skier, who announced this week that she will not be able to compete due to a knee injury, also posted on her Facebook page that she adopted a 9-month-old puppy. The puppy is named Leo and like Vonn has a bum knee, too.
Vonn has experienced several knee injuries in the past year, the most recent in December. She is preparing for knee surgery so she can start rehab and training for the World Championships in Vail next February.
Leo apparently is helping Vonn get through her Olympic disappointment. Her latest Twitter post shows Leo happily walking on the beach: “Morning walk on the beach with Leo. He seems very happy to be out of his cage! Can't wait to take him home to Vail and show him snow for the first time! #iloveleo #happydistraction.”
Sources report that Vonn adopted Leo from Furry Friends shelter in Jupiter, Fla. and plans on taking him to see an orthopedic surgeon.
Vonn is a gold medal winner in our book for adopting a dog, particularly a shelter dog that needed a loving home.
