Ralph Lauren has always been known for featuring dogs in their company’s ads. Recently, they launched a new campaign, which focuses on bringing awareness to shelter dogs by showcasing them as the models.
“The Dog Walk” campaign, in coordination with the ASPCA, is a black and white video campaign that features the dogs dressed in the brilliantly colored canine accessories that the fashion designer sells.
The accessories may cost a fortune for most dog lovers (for example, a leather carrier featured in the campaign costs $1,950), but the company gets kudos for showing the world that even homeless dogs can look like a million bucks.
In addition to donating 10 percent of the proceeds of the campaign until November 10 to the ASPCA, the dogs got to strut their stuff, receive plenty of attention and have a good time.
"It was a great day," Lourdes Bravo, the assistant director of adoption at the ASPCA, told TODAY.com. "They loved being out, plus they have models coming in and out, hugging and loving them."
The best part of the story is that it not only brings a lot of attention to shelter dogs in general, all of the dogs in the campaign have now found their forever homes.
One of those dogs, Lady, a white Pit Bull that had proven hard to adopt because of her age and health issues, is also now with a permanent foster family who will allow her to live out her remaining days in a loving home.
