Diamond Pet Foods expanded its voluntary recall of Diamond Naturals Lamb Meal & Rice dry dog food from earlier this month to include one production run and four production codes of Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Light formula dry dog food, as it too may have been contaminated with Salmonella.
Customers who have purchased Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Light Formula dry dog food with the following specific production/lot code and best before date are advised to discard the product:
- 6-lb bag with the production code CLF0102B3XALW and best before January 28, 2013
- 35-lb bag with the production code CLF0102B31XCW and best before January 27, 2013
- 35-lb bag with the production code CLF0102B31XCW and best before January 28, 2013
- 35-lb bag with the production code CLF0102B32XWR and best before January 28, 2013
Although no illnesses relating to the product have been reported, one bag of the product has tested positive for Salmonella. The recall of the four production codes, according to Diamond Pet Foods, is being conducted as a precautionary measure.
Pets with salmonella may display a decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. People infected with salmonella should watch for nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever.
