LIke the previous reviewer, I'm a label reader, too. In this day & age of everyone trying to feed their dogs "hollistic" and grain free products (which is somewhat of a gimmick, to be honest - it sells food) - this is one instance where you MUST choose the quality & length of life for your dog over the misery your dog suffers from being overweight (and the threat of early death).

I've had my dog on this food before with GREAT success! The weight loss was gradual, safe, and "immediate" in that we had quick results.

My dog loves the taste (the food smells good/fresh), and with his digestive problems - he finally has firm, normal stools.

Due to my dog's lyme disease (treatment doesn't wipe it out - he'll always have it), his joints give him a lot of discomfort, making exercise very difficult for him --- thus the weight gain that's on/off/on again.

My dog also has early stages of kidney failure - his kidneys leak protein. This food IS high protein, and normally wouldn't be the right product for a dog that needs to watch protein intake -- but in our situation, this food is fine.

If your dog needs to loose weight - or suffer the consequences of blowing out its knees (or other joints), be predisposed to lipomas (and cancer), heart failure (due to the extra pounds), etc -- you MUST put the brainwashing of these ingredients being "unhealthy" aside... and do what's best for your dog: Get the weight off.

You will eventually have your dog back on his normal food after the weight is off.... but the weight WILL come back on if you don't start exercising your dog, and feeding him the PROPER amount of food (stop overfeeding your dogs)!!!

After our male Dachshund was neutered he started to gain weight. This product brought his weight back down as well as helps keep him at a healthy weight.

This is very important to his health as his good weight helps keep his back in good shape.

    Thank you Hills...
