The CatIt is by far the best pet fountain out there when it comes to function, price, and ease of maintenance. All three of our cats love it. Disassembly is a snap, and there aren't any difficult-to-clean crevices. The filter design is remarkably simple (and inexpensive), so replacement is painless. The fountain is nearly silent, and only makes a slight gurgling sound when it's running low. HIGHLY recommended.

I work as a vet tech at a vet clinic and we have 5 cats that live there. They always want to drink from the faucet at the sink, so I thought this might interest them. They all seem to love it.

I've used this or a very similar product abroad, so when a cat adopted us as his guardians, I immediately purchased this. The cat likes drinking fresh-flowing water. However, there's a plastic cover-type cone that holds the filter in place, leaving only a small area in the middle for the cat to actually drink from. Not only is the area of water exposed relatively small, but it's hard to reach. (Our other cats abroad don't particularly like this feature either.) This cat solved the problem neatly -- before drinking, he simply reached in and pulled off the plastic cone and filter. After the third time he did it, stupid human that I am, I finally got the message. I pulled off the plastic cone permanently, placed the filter under the plastic basket, and everyone's happy. The slight gurgling noise that is now audible even to human ears is certainly acceptable, and the cat loves drinking from it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this fountain for my new kitten because our last cat loved to drink from moving water (i.e. leaky bath tub, toilets, sinks, etc.) In order to curb such a habit, I tried this out. The kitten loves it as does our dog.
