Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary UC 18 Low Purine Dry Dog Food:

After an expensive surgery to remove bladder stones from my male Dalmatian I did extensive research into foods that would help my dog live a long and productive life. This Royal Canin food was a miracle: high quality ingredients, good protein levels, and a overall focus to reduce purines in my dogs diet made it a natural choice. My dog loves it and it has so far help prevent any recurrence of stones. It has only one drawback and that is it tends to add weight to my dog. While it is expensive my dog is worth every penny I spend on this food and it is overall a lot cheaper than a $5000 surgery to remove stones.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary UC 18 Low Purine Dry Dog Food:

Our Westie had surgery to remove bladder stones and the Vet recommended a Rx diet to avoid future stones. He did not tolerate the first two options very well (frequent urination and vomiting ). He liked the RC right away and has no side effects.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary UC 18 Low Purine Dry Dog Food:

I have a male Dalmatian that for whatever reason has issues with drinking water. As a result he can form bladder crystals (genetic predisposition). This food has improved his water drinking habits and reduces his chances of crystals by providing a lower purine diet. He was on Science Diet U/D for a while but hated it (refused to eat it) and it left his coat greasy and disgusting. This food seems very nutritionally sound because he is the healthiest he's ever been, his coat looks great and he's full of Dalmatian energy. The bonus is that he LOVES the flavor of the food. The biggest downside for me is the size of the bag. I wish it came in a larger size than 18 pounds so I wouldn't have to buy it so frequently. I buy multiple bags at a time which means finding a place to store the unopened ones.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary UC 18 Low Purine Dry Dog Food:

After my Dalmatian was diagnosed with uric acid stones I did a lot of research on the different RX diets. The Royal Canin is not chemically preserved and doesn't have a bad smell like some of the others. It also has a higher protein content than the others. It is expensive but my dog's health is well worth it.
