My baby girl was diagnosed with Lymphoma back in November and was given about a month to live since I opted to not put her through Chemo. She took her steroids and that's it. I did a lot of research and knew her diet needed to be lower carb higher protein to slow the cancer down. She was also very thin and needed to gain weight to I fed her this along with low grain Dry food. She loved it! I put her pill in it and she ate it up with no problem! She passed away last week April 8th peacefully in her sleep with no signs what so ever that anything was wrong. I believe this food played a big role in her staying alive and also happy for as long as she did. I will continue to use this product and recommend it to everyone I know.

    4 cats gave paws down

i've been trying various pet foods that are low in phosphorus, but not prescription level low, to find one that my cats will eat to try to prevent my cats with stage 1-2 CRF from progressing to stage 3-4, and to keep my cats without CRF from getting it.

i tried this flavor of felidae because it met 4 of my 5 requirements: low phosphorus, 1.09% DMW, relatively high protein, 43% DMW, calories from fat was less than evo,62%, and the calories were low, only 84 for 3 oz. what i didn't like was that carbs made up over 10% of its DMW (14%), but at this stage, i am more concerned with phosphorus and willing to be more flexible on carbs.

but all 4 cats rejected it. 3 out of 4 were willing to try it once, 1 refused altogether. the 3 who tried it, refused to finish it, and refused to eat it again.

i didn't find the consistency messy, but i agree with other posters that it's weird. it is sort of like mashed potatoes, but not quite so robust--if that makes sense. the color, after 3-4 minutes in the bowl, faded to greenish grey from pale brown, and it has whole peas in it, which makes no sense to me, as i've never seen a cat eat a pea, and i've had cats in my life for almost 40 years.

i wish i hadn't had to buy a case to try it, but it isn't sold near me. i will donate what is left the shelter, and let them know they might have better luck giving it their dogs than their cats.

for comparison purposes--my cats used to eat evo turkey/chicken kitten and cat wet for years (the one with the purple label). they loved it, but it made them all obese, it gets 64% of its calories from fat, has very high calories (109 for 3 oz), and has a relatively high phosphorus level (1.31). in fact the only good thing was its carb level at just 4% DMW.

they also like fancy feast classic chicken or turkey pate. fancy feast is what i used to help them lose weight--and it worked beautifully (all are a healthy weight again, with basically no effort, and in less than 6 months). contrary to popular belief it does not contain by-products, has low calories, 93 for 3 0oz, low fat, only 51% of total calories, low carbs, 4%, and is highly palatable-but it has high phosphorus levels (2.10).

they also like purina one chicken or turkey pate--the composition is basically the same as fancy feast but it has less phosphorus (but still too high)= 2.00.

i couldn't give any pros, because food that isn't edible is worthless, regardless of nutrition claims by the manufacturer. i've also tried triumph chicken and liver, but only one cat will eat it. and am now trying petguard beef and wheat germ. you can check my reviews of these if you are interested.

Comments about CANIDAE PURE Elements Grain Free Chicken, Turkey & Lamb Formula Canned Cat Food:

We bought this food because our cat developed an allergy to his old food. He's only been on it a little over a week now, but so far so good. The sores on his body seem to be going away. And our cat is always anxious to eat the food!

Comments about CANIDAE PURE Elements Grain Free Chicken, Turkey & Lamb Formula Canned Cat Food:

As others have stated, this food has a weird looking consistency. However, I mix this food 50/50 with raw beef, turkey or chicken and they clean up every bit. "They" are my 3 spoiled barn cats who come running in at dinner time so that I can lock them in for the night. Works for us!

Comments about CANIDAE PURE Elements Grain Free Chicken, Turkey & Lamb Formula Canned Cat Food:

One of my cats was having longer and longer coughing fits over time before he started eating canned Felidae grain free. Now he rarely, if ever, coughs. He's a big cat, so the chicken mix sticks with him longer, but he's tried the fish one and likes it too. Even the coating on the inside of the big cans is the highest quality!
