Product Details

Tumil-K is indicated as a supplement in cats and dogs with potassium deficiency. Potassium depletion now appears to be a serious and a relatively common disorder in cats especially those with renal disease. Treatment is relatively straightforward once the condition is recognized, although the diagnosis may not be readily apparent. This difficulty stems largely from the fact that serum potassium concentrations may not accurately reflect total body potassium stores. In addition, most of the signs of potassium depletion are nonspecific and may mimic other disorders, many of which are associated with old age.
The suggested dose of Tumil-K for adult cats and dogs is one caplet, 1/4 level teaspoonful (0.65g) of powder or 1/2 teaspoonful (468mg) of gel per 10 lbs (4.5kg) body weight twice daily. Dosage may be adjusted to satisfy patient's need.
Precautions:
Do not administer to cats with acute, oliguric or anuric or advanced renal failure. See package insert for additional precautions. This product must be prescribed by a licensed veterinarian.

        Comments about Tumil-K:

My 23 yr. old cat was prescribed potassium gluconate by her Ver. I first tried another brand of gel....she would not take it. I tasted it myself and it was sweet...she doesn not paricularly like sweet things, certainly not on a daily basis. I then tried the Tumil-K powder. And yes, I tasted it first. Basically little or no taste to it, nothing icky tasting. I mix it with a Tbs. of her wet food treat and she eats it right up.

        Comments about Tumil-K:

My 16-y/o cat was recently diagnosed with CRF (chronic renal failure). A disturbing symptom was her inability to walk due to low potassium levels affecting her muscle function. After three days of taking Tumil-K, she began to walk again! The downside to the gel is that it is gooey and difficult to disguise in my cat's food, so I must squirt it into her mouth with a syringe. She is not crazy about the stuff, but she tolerates the process -- and the results are worth it. A big towel and damp rag are helpful tools when using this product.

        Service and delivery comments:

I did not realize ground shipping would take 5 days for product to arrive. If you need the medication much more quickly, I recommend opting for 2-day/next-day express delivery. E-mail communications on delivery status were helpful.

This product is by prescription only. I mix it with a tablespoon of canned puree food and water to make a slurry. I feed it to my cat when he is hungry to make sure he will eat the whole amount

          Comments about Tumil-K:

Well, for starters, the product listed above is not what I ordered and received. I use the gel in the tube. She needs it for medical reasons (obviously), but the consistancy and taste gags her. I know you don't make the product, so there is nothing I can do about that. Your service and service people are wonderful.
