Comments about SmartCat Tiger Mobile Cat Toy:
The Tiger Mobile was simple to attach to the edge of a door (bracket with velcro straps, nothing permanent, can be removed easily, non-marring; fits both round door knobs and long handles); it holds well, even when the cats grab the toy and refuse to let go (although my kitties are small and all under 8 lbs., a very large or strong cat may just pull the toy off the door), although it does need to be re-strapped after a long day of play.
The motor spins a bar suspended from wire, which then spins a toy dangling from a second wire; the design lets the toy spin in a fast circle and bounce slightly up and down. Two of my three cats are enthralled and bat, jump, grab, and bite the moving toy; the third watches it, but has no interest in batting it. The 20 seconds on and 20 seconds off keep them interested. However, even when turned off (the motor makes a little noise I don't want to hear all night), the kitties bounce the toy or slap it a few times while walking by. My only concern is when they so successfully catch the toy that they refuse to let go, I fear they may overly twist the wires or burn out the motor, but so far no sign of this.
On the pro side: Kitties enjoy it tremendously! On the con side: Toy does extend about 18 inches from the open door, making quite a room obstacle.
