Treat your cat's urinary tract disease with proper nutrition. Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Moderate Calorie Dry Cat Food is specially formulated for cats with or at risk of developing feline lower urinary tract disease and weight gain. It helps prevent the formation of bladder stones that can cause blockages in the urinary tract. Your cat will drink more water, increasing her urine volume while decreasing the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite. Added vitamins, minerals and antioxidants make Royal Canin a complete and balanced meal for your adult cat.

I use this product daily for my cat, Zeus who is prone to urinary tract blockages. Because we have a second cat, Apollo feeding them seperate would be too much of a headache, so he eats it as well!

Zeus has not had a problem with urinary tract blockaging since we began using this new food. So that is reason enough to keep using it!

The cost of the food is higher than that of a normal food (or even the urinary tract food in your regular grocery store), I wish it was a little more affordable. However, I will say that we tried the "cheaper" stuff from the stores and he still had occasionally trouble with the blockages, so if that's why you're buying this, it's your best bet!

Also, as a side note: buying it from this vendor is cheaper than buying it at our local vet office (including shipping!)

Also, we tried the same food but the ones that were corn and wheat based - our cats could not tolerate them, they ate it, but couldn't keep it down. This caused massive weight loss in both our cats. This one is chicken based and the only one they can eat.

I had to switch over to this food to treat a chronic condition in one of my cats. Luckily, the rest like it, and there's no fight to get anyone to eat. I do wish it was more natural. I used to feed Blue before I had to switch, and I always got compliments on their coats. I wish this food had that effect. It's also really expensive. Still, it does what it's supposed to, and the condition is well treated since switching.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Urinary SO Moderate Calorie Dry Cat Food:

Yes, it's pricey. But after your cat almost dies from a blocked urinary tract price becomes far less important. Both of my kitties like this food (it took some getting used to) and the health benefits were immediately visible. It causes your cat to drink more water which helps to flush everything out more efficiently. There is a visible increase in drinking and litter box use and both cats have been very healthy since changing to this food. Added bonus - both of their coats are much more soft and silky - not bad for two old boys!

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Urinary SO Moderate Calorie Dry Cat Food:

My male cat was hospitalized twice in 4 years both for urinary blockages. He was forming crystals. We switched to this food and he has been clear for 5 years. Since he is an all day muncher, My other healthy cat Has to eat it too. Urine volume is up on both of them. The Pellets are hard, thus with their aging teeth I think it has become more challenging. I would recommend a different shape be made in the future. (I don't want to pay for wet food yet)
