I found this dog food years ago when our beagle had horrible arthritis preventing him from climbing stairs and even standing. His condition left me to believe he had months to live. After switching to this food he got his youth back with the ability to run and chase rabbits. At this time both of our dogs were on this food (a beagle and a miniature border collie). After a matter of a few months (it probably occurred sooner) we noticed they didn't have to battle fleas. For years the dogs had been on this food with never a case of fleas (ticks - yes, but fleas - no). Our beagle lived to be 18 years old. By this time we also got a black lab. The border collie and the black lab were on this diet years with no fleas. Finally the local pet stores stopped carrying this food and they had to start on a different food. Within three weeks of the different food they started to battle with fleas. To me this is proof that this Healthy Skin - Vegetarian food prevents fleas. It worked on three dogs and it gave my beagle extra years of healthy life. That was the best gift I could have given to our family's "best friend."

Ingredient label doesn't match…. per the label of the package we received and the ingredients listed on the website POTATO is not listed in the on line info. To a normal dog this probably doesn't seem like an issue however our pure bread boxer has numerous allergies!! ( Beef, salmon, wheat, corn, alfalfa, soy and POTATO) We purchased this food because it should have been OK for our dog to eat, however, after just two meals he broke out in hives. A trip to the vet, Rx allergy meds and a review of the label indicated the missing ingredient would be the culprit.

The bottom line is if your dog has allergies don't trust this food, possibly even this site.

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Venison Meal & Rice Recipe Canine Formula Dry Dog Food:

This is the only food I will consider feeding my four legged son. I am finding it harder and harder to come by though. I have an auto ship but they are out of stock and the local stores cannot keep it on the shelf. Now he is looking at going hungry....

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Venison Meal & Rice Recipe Canine Formula Dry Dog Food:

My Brittany has been on this food after struggling with hot spots. It was recommended by his vet and His skin is healthy on this food. I've even tried to switch him off before and the hot spots returned. Thankful for this product!

Great for allergies

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Venison Meal & Rice Recipe Canine Formula Dry Dog Food:

My dogs have been on this food for 8 of their 9 years. They are both allergic to wheat, corn and eggs. I have tried cheaper brands with similar ingredients and they end end with vomiting and diarrhea! My step dog (little one) was on kibble and bits and when I changed her over, twice as much hair grew in!! Expensive to buy for 3 dogs but worth not having to worry or a trip to the vet! Love it!
