I have been using "Swheat Scoop" for years. Long ago I read something about how the clumping clay litters can cause kidney problems so I decided to find a safe option for my little guys. I tried several alternatives like "Feline Pine", "Yesterday's News" and one with small round white balls (I don't recall the name). In all cases there was something that either I didn't like (the white balls rolled all over the place when the cats left the litter box) or the boys didn't like (Feline Pine was the worst, in their opinion). Then I found "Swheat Scoop". It is enough like soil that the kitties have no problem using it and it is 100% biodegradable and flushable. It also handles odors really well. When the boxes need to be emptied and cleaned the left over litter can go into the garden. Best of all it is SAFE for the cats. I do not feed my cats grains, however a little wheat flour on the paws is no problem and it will pass right through their systems and not cause sickness later. I recently tried "Worlds Best Cat Litter", which is corn based. I liked it but it is dustier than the wheat so I will be sticking with "Swheat Scoop".

I am a big old bunny-hugging greenie and bought this stuff because it is biodegradeable. Bentonite (clay ) litter is a product of strip mining, and is not exactly eco-friendly. Alas, I went back to the drawing board after using Swheat Scoop. It did nothing about odor and tended to turn into a kind of gel after the cats widdled in it. Even worse was that my house rabbit got in there and started eating it! (Fortunately, he did not get sick.) Other people I know use it, but it did not work in my multi-cat household.

Comments about Swheat Scoop Natural Cat Litter:

This litter is the best litter I have ever used for my cats. I've been using this because at first I wanted something healthy and natural. It literally takes out the smelly urine and feces smell. I have used the chemically treated litter. It smells is dusty and unhealthy for my cats and me. This litter lasts so long as well. I will use it for my two Siamese cats for years to come. They love it and I love it because of less tracking as well.

Comments about Swheat Scoop Natural Cat Litter:

Our cats took to this litter very quickly. Our 2nd adoptee came w/ half a bag of what his foster had been using, and he transitioned smoothly. We like that at box switch out time, we can compost the litter (very well scooped, of course, so only litter remains). It tracks about the same as a clay litter, but if you step on a few grains, they brush off easily, unlike clay litter grains which can smush and be slick feeling (the clay). We feel it is much better for our kitties than clay. We have tried other formulas; pine was a no-go (they didn't like the pelleted one nor the sawdust one) and although they did take well to the walnut-shell kind, the Swheat Scoop is less expensive in the long run.

          Great product!

Comments about Swheat Scoop Natural Cat Litter:

I have used this product since my boys were able to litter train. I wanted only the best for the boys so I decided on this. What a mistake. I had dust all over and the tracking was everywhere. I finally had enough of this and changed to a clay based product that is 99.9 dust free. I am so glad I made the switch. This product cost way to much money for the mess you end up with. I have 3 cats and scoop daily. The smell was unbearable after one use. Do yourself a favor and research the facts. If I must have a litter box I am so glad to have found the other brand which is cheaper as well. Do not buy this you will be pulling your hair out.....:)
