I have 4 guineas who are very picky due to being spoiled. They eat all veggies and almost all fruits, dandelions, anything that I know they love. I've been purchasing my Timothy Hay in 35 pounds or more from a farm. Even though the hay from the farm is less expensive,[...] the hay I got from the farm was not all eaten by the Guineas. They would eat the seed tops off and make bedding from the rest. This is my first time purchasing Oxbox after buying from the farm and I have to say that when I feed them Oxbow hay there is no leftover hay, for bedding. I have to assume that they are eating it all and they must love it. I've tried Kaytee hay when I first got my Guineas and I will never purchase that brand again. I got more splinters than I was willing to deal with. Also 2 of my guineas had splinters in their eyeballs from Kaytee hay. I have to say that I probably saved money on the purchase [...] because the Guineas are not wasting the hay as they were with the organic farm hay. Hope this helps.

Comments about Oxbow Western Timothy Hay:

Commented months ago saying I was on my 2nd box. First was superb, 2nd was stalky but the pigs used some of it as bedding anyway. I've received my 3rd box and it's absolutely awful. All stalk, yellow/brown and has a moldy smell. In 2.5 years of purchasing this product, I've seen a drastic decline in quality. I would no longer recommend this hay. I'd much rather recommended staying as far away from it as possible.

Comments about Oxbow Western Timothy Hay:

I've been buying the Oxbow timothy hay for my rabbit through petfooddirect for a couple of years now and I have never had a problem until now. Before my last order it has always been fresh and green. I just bought a 90 lb. bag and when you look in the bag, you see the brown hay in there, but you still see some green. For some reason when you take it out of the bag and put it in his cage, it is all brown within 5-6 hours. After reading the reviews, it seems I'm not the only one that is experiencing the same problem. I'm very disappointed.

Comments about Oxbow Western Timothy Hay:

I've always bought the 9-lb bag of hay for my two bunnies but recently, the bag was full of hard, pointy dry pieces that didn't seem fresh. They were as green and soft as usual.
My bunnies refused to eat it. Actually, they threw the hay out of their bin in disgust. So Pet360 sent us a new 9-lb bag, which had the same problem. Then I just gave up and requested a refund.
So now I'm afraid to order this at all. I emailed Oxbow but they are not answering me. I don't know what is going on, but beware if you are planning to order this hay.
It's a shame. I'm kind of in a predicament. The Oxbow in the store was also not favorable to my boys. I opted to buy Kaytee which they are eating but not nearly as much as they normally do. I've been reading a lot of bad reviews on different hays recently. I'm just really disappointed in Oxbow, and so are my bunnies!

Comments about Oxbow Western Timothy Hay:

I've had success ordering from Oxbow off PetFoodDirect in the past but the last two months have been a disaster. The hay is much dryer than before and my two flemish giants barely eat it. A lot more hay is going to waste as they have to pick and choose to find the fresh pieces so I'm having to supplement with fresher hay bought from my local petstore, which is super expensive and defeats the purpose of buying in bulk online. To make matters worse, the hay took almost 10 days to get here despite PetFoodDirect's 2-day shipping AND the fact that I live in Philadelphia, which is very close to PetFoodDirect's facilities. Needless to say I've been sorely disappointed with my last two purchases and will be shopping around for better deals elsewhere.

Comments about Oxbow Western Timothy Hay:

First shipments were really good. The hay was fresh and green. My rabbits were in hay heaven. The next few shipments were terrible. The hay was dry, stale and was even difficult to handle without gloves due to the texture. I will continue to order. But, will be searching for a different company.
