We have three dogs, two of whom are terrified of thunder storms! I ordered their thundershirts on Wednesday, recieved them on Friday when we were supposed to have severe storms. We put the shirts on them prior to the storm as directed. The thunder started a few minutes later. OMG! Instead of trying to be lapdogs, they were prefectly content to be on the floor. They did not hyperventilate, shake, or whine. I don't know who thought of this amazing product, but IT WORKS and our dogs were calm and secure all night. I wish we had done this years ago!

Our neighbor has a extremely noisy anxious boxer and she has 5 acres to roam on. They put this on her and the barking agitation and other undesirable qualities have not subsided at all. She barks at everything and everyone who goes by. Constantly bullies and nips at the other two dogs on the property. In this case I can say the performance is poor.

      Comments about Thundershirt for Dogs:

I was hesistant about this until I tried it on my dog. My pooch has a major aversion to thunderstorms and fireworks. This cuts his anxiety by about 80%. We took a few weeks to get him used to it. Since he likes wearing clothes, his adjustment to it was easy.

As a result, we got one and gave it as a gift to a Cocker Spaniel friend. He loves it, too, and his mom says he is less anxious during fireworks. Definitely gives dogs the much need hug they need during periods of stress.

        Comments about Thundershirt for Dogs:

My dog has serious anxiety and it generally manifests itself as hyperactivity, excessive barking and aggression around other dogs. I was running out of ideas but my dog trainer told me to give the thundershirt a chance. I didn't think anything could calm this guy down, but this really does and the effect is instantaneous. No more barking at every sound, no more constant running and jumping to investigate every door and window... I haven't had a chance to try it when I leave the house yet nor have I tried it when he's around other dogs but if his behavior in the apartment is any indication, it will make a difference. If you feel like there is nothing more you can do for your dog, give this a chance.

Fireworks, thunder storms we put the shirts on both of our Aussies. Rather then pacing, crying and jumping up on us they go to their pet beds and sleep. They are amazing.

Bought this for our 3 year old Bichon who couldn't even make it 5 miles to the vet without getting car sick. We wanted to be able to have her travel with us and thought we'd try the Thundershirt. She's been on three trips since purchasing the shirt and has not gotten sick nor has she shown any signs of getting sick. The Thundershirt is worth every penny! Certainly has made us happy to have our furry loved one join us on our camping trips.

                  Comments about Thundershirt for Dogs:

Bought this for a dog who is scared of his own shadow. He wore it during a Memorial Day barbecue and was calmer than he had ever been before. It wasn't a complete turnaround but he didn't run from room to room. He just laid in the corner out of the way. And during the fireworks (which were only a block away), he just laid on the couch next to me instead of trying to hide from them.

The only downside I can see is that since it is a shirt, I don't know about leaving it on him on long periods in the summer. I only use it during thunderstorms - and then take it off again. But since thunderstorms usually pop up during hot weather, I'd be a little concerned about him overheating.

Overall I would definitely recommend it. It seems to work, it's easy to use, and the dog likes wearing it.

My female Jack Russel has a lot of trouble with anxiety and she also has very sensitive skin. I am wondering what kind of material will be against her body in a Thundershirt and is spandex used in the product to help make it tight?

                      A:

Hello, the thundershirt is a cotton and polyester blend.

Also, if you click on the down arrow on the immediate right of your female dog's name on the top left of the page, you will see a box pop up with "Add a Pet" in the bottom right of that box. This is how you can add Sissy's information! If you are still having trouble finding the spot where you can add her please do not hesitate to call our Pet360 Pack customer service department at 1 (877) 973-8360. Thank you!

Please refer to the chart below for the best indication of what size to get your Boston Terrier. Most likely your dog will need either an XS or Small.

                      XXSmall 9"-13.5" (23-34cm) < 12 lbs. (5kg)
                      XSmall 13"-18" 33-46cm) 10-18 lbs. (5-8kg)
                      Small 16"-23" (41-58cm) 15-25 lbs. (7-11kg)
                      Medium 18"-26" (46-66cm) 20-50 lbs. (9-23kg)
                      Large 24"-32" (61-81cm) 40-70 lbs. (18-32kg)
                      XLarge 31"-40" (79-102cm) 60-100 lbs.(27-45kg)
                      XXLarge 38"-50" (97-127cm) > 90 lbs. (40kg)

Do you have a question about this product?

                  Manufacturer

About Thundershirt: Thundershirt’s founder, Phil Blizzard, has a 10-year-old, 50-pound mutt named Dosi who will make friends with anyone. But Dosi was extremely frightened by loud noises like thunderstorms and fireworks. Even when the skies were clear, Dosi’s behavior would let her family know if a thunderstorm was coming. Her tail would go between the legs and the shakes and panting began. If it was during the night, she would plant herself on Phil’s chest and keep her family awake for hours. They visited three different veterinarians over the years to find a remedy. The only suggestion was to sedate Dosi, but even the veterinarians didn’t think drugs were an effective solution. You have to anticipate the storm by 1-2 hours for the sedatives to take effect; not an easy task for storms that arrive in the night. And worse, while sedated, dogs can be very unstable on their legs and become a danger to themselves. Dosi would try to jump off the bed and risked breaking a leg, and she would remain groggy and unstable for many hours after the storms had past. So after a couple of uses, the sedatives were set aside. Noise desensitization training was next for Dosi. The concept is to expose the fearful dog to low levels of the problem noise (e.g. thunder recordings) until she becomes accustomed to it and then slowly increase the levels until she is no longer afraid of the real noise. One common problem with this approach is that many dogs don’t react to recordings of thunderstorms or fireworks. They can tell the difference, probably due to the absence of other traits like the smell of ozone, or the feel of barometric pressure changes. This was the case with Dosi… the sound of a recorded thunderstorm didn’t concern her in the least. But even if it did, according to most trainers we have consulted, desensitization is very rarely successful. It takes a tremendous, long-term time commitment by the owners. So for several years, Dosi just had to suffer through the many thunderstorms and 4th of July fireworks. But then they heard about an alternative approach to relieving noise anxiety...the unique approach now offered by Thundershirt. It was amazing. With the very first usage, within two minutes, Dosi’s shakes had practically disappeared, and she lay down. And the gentle, constant pressure of Thundershirt has worked for Dosi ever since. Thundershirt’s gentle, constant pressure has a dramatic calming effect for most dogs if anxious, fearful or over-excited.
