My 24 pound solid white Maine Coon suffered from mega colon since he was a year and a half old. He was on two medications three times a day and still went to the vet for enemas 6 to 8 times a year.

Finally, some great research produced Royal Canin Gastrointestinal High Fiber Response. The difference this food made in Gabriel's life (and mine) was incredible, he began to poop everyday, his meds were cut back to twice a day and he went for months at a time without having to have the assistance of the enemas.

I am confident that this food extended Gabriel's life and made life easier for both of us. He died very suddenly of a heart attack last December but was still doing so well on this food right up to the end.

This product is the proverbial "no brainer" if your cat suffers from mega colon / constipation. Worth every penny.

Why is everything Chicken Flavored. My vet has put my cat on high fiber, tried every type here and all are chicken flavored and she won't touch them. Matter of fact I have found her using it as litter instead of going to her box. I have explained this with my vet and we have 1, tried the starvation method of if she gets hungry enough she will eat anything. Not true, well she did start eating the puppy chow when we weren't looking and 2 putting a small amount of wet fish flavor, which is the only flavor I have found she will eat in cat foods and also not sound wet in this expensive brand. All that happened is she licked all wet of and left the rest. And YES, I wash her bowl after each litter use and replaced it with new food. Btw, it forced me to give at least one star, won't give it any if the option was there.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal Fiber Response HF Dry Cat Food:

My kitty was so unhappy due to constipation issues and throwing up. This product has made him relatively regular, he seems to digest it better, and is pretty much back to his old self, much to my relief. I can not thank you enough.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal Fiber Response HF Dry Cat Food:

My 5 year old has mega colon and we've been struggling with keeping her regular the past 4 years. We've spent thousands of dollars on medicines, failed diets, and clean outs. We were on our last straw before our current, 3rd, vet suggested this food. Within 24 hours our cat was having normal BM in the box and not the little hard clumps she had before. It's been 2 1/2 weeks and we haven't had any straining or drops around the house. We mix this food with blue buffalo and continue her cisapride. Her little brother loves this food too!
If anything changes I'll update my review! I wish we knew about this food 4 years ago! This food has relieved stress on our cat and ourselves.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal Fiber Response HF Dry Cat Food:

This food is an absolute miracle and I don't use those words lightly. Like others who have reviewed this product, I have an 11 year old cat that is 23 pounds (not overweight, just a huge cat) that was having severe constipation that the vets could not cure. It was a nightmare for both him and us. When we finally got this product, it was happening every 1-2 weeks, where he would try to go to the bathroom and be unsuccessful, then try to go EVERYWHERE in our home, with little poops all over the place. We would frantically be picking up everything, staying up with him all night (it always happened late at night for some reason, some times lasting hours). He would become so distressed, he would be throwing up and peeing as well. It was so awful to see him so distressed and really terrible for us, too. I found the reviews of this food and called my vet and said we have to give it a try. AMAZING!!!!!!!! He LOVES the food and has been regular and so so happy ever since. Our vet warned that giving him too much could cause a problem in the other direction (too soft), so we do not follow the guide on the bag and feed him only this food. By his weight, they recommend 7/8ths of a cup, but we give him just under 1/2 cup a day and supplement it with grain and gluten free wet food (Wellness). THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ROYAL CANIN!!!! If your feline friend has been suffering in the same way as our sweet guy was, I cannot recommend this product enough.
