My 24 pound solid white Maine Coon suffered from mega colon since he was a year and a half old. He was on two medications three times a day and still went to the vet for enemas 6 to 8 times a year.

Finally, some great research produced Royal Canin Gastrointestinal High Fiber Response. The difference this food made in Gabriel's life (and mine) was incredible, he began to poop everyday, his meds were cut back to twice a day and he went for months at a time without having to have the assistance of the enemas.

I am confident that this food extended Gabriel's life and made life easier for both of us. He died very suddenly of a heart attack last December but was still doing so well on this food right up to the end.

This product is the proverbial "no brainer" if your cat suffers from mega colon / constipation. Worth every penny.

My cat had been on another Royal Canin food for his urinary tract, and after about a year of that he started throwing up almost daily. Since we still have to keep an eye on his urinary tract this food is appropriate for both of his problems. He only throws up about once a week, which I still think is a lot. His feces is larger than I have ever seen come from a cat and I do not love the main ingredients of this food, especially for the price. I am sticking with it because of the recent developments in my cats heath but I would much rather feed him a more natural cat food.

    A miracle in our lives

    By Ivonne

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal Fiber Response HF Dry Cat Food:

My cat struggled for one year with severe constipation. We tried all the medicines, a natural diet, different types of dry food and nothing seemed to work. He went in and out of the hospital and was on enemas at least one a week. Then we found Royal Canin GastroIntestinal Fiber Response and it was as if he had never had any issues at all. He goes to the sand box twice a day and is now living a happy, active life without any drugs. No visits to the hospital in months now. This is very important food, it makes a huge difference in many cat's lives. I can even say that my cat would not be alive without it. THANK YOU!

    Saving my cat

    By Elizabeth in Chesapeake

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal Fiber Response HF Dry Cat Food:

My 3 y/o cat developed motility issues (ileus) This past fall, she had to have surgery for an impaction high in the colon of constipation and hairball. She had previously been on a very healthy canned wed food. Three weeks after surgery, she was back to being severely constipated and had an enema. We began this diet of RC Fiber Response. We finally had to switch her over to this only as she cannot tolerate any other food now even with Cisapride and Miralax. This is a life saver for her now. She does still need Cisapride and Miralax but is able to eat and have BMs every day while on this diet. She is young and we are hoping to manage it with diet and meds for as long as possible to avoid radical surgery like a subtotal colectomy. She does great...she does not have megacolon and hopefully this will help prevent that from developing. She has been on this now since the end of Dec 2015.

Last spring, my cat, Peaches, became constipated. The Vet treated her and gave me some food afterward. There were 6 cans of a food, which my 2 cats would not eat, and an 8lb. bag of Royal Canin Gastrointestinal. Both cats love Gastrointestinal! Also, It coats their guts and makes their poop neater. My only objection is the price. Please try to keep the price lower.

Saved my 13 year old boy!

    By Linus

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal Fiber Response HF Dry Cat Food:

I went through almost 2 years of lactulose, Cissipride, and "evacuations" at the vet. Also tried a competitor's veterinary "low residue" formula. Nothing worked until I tried this stuff. No more messy syrup and half the dose of Cissipride. He is 14 now and going strong. Well worth the cost. If you have a constipated cat, try this food now!
