I love this type of bedding because it is dust free and much cleaner than shavings. I had been a long time user of Carefresh until the new formula smelled horrible like formaldehyde and filled our small apartment for days after cleaning the cage. I hoped a different brand would help but I still have the same issue with the smell upon opening and laying new bedding. It is not as strong as Carefresh smell but still bad enough that I'm looking for alternatives. If you can handle the smell or have a larger house that you won't notice it in as much - good for you - but this isn't good for apartments. I also question the health of that smell to my guinea pig as he has his nose in it 24/7.

Used for my hamster and it really is a nice soft non-smelling product. It would be perfect if it wasn't for the slight dust residue that settles under bedding. He sniffs and digs and kicks around but I don't know if the dust is bothersome. When I ask him he just stares at my fingers hoping for a treat.
