We have a 11 pound Pomeranian. He was rescued from a severely abusive home. Best estimate is that he is about nine years old. He has about six teeth left (the rest had to be extracted). He recently had a life-threatening bout with acute pancreatitis. By God's grace, he survived, but his acute pancreatitis is now chronic pancreatitis. He is now home and has been eating only canned low fat ID. For the first three weeks, he wasn't thrilled about the change in diet (he was also still recovering and taking antibiotics). He now loves the food and will do his typical "food dance" at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We mix his food with some warm water to ensure that he is getting lots of fluids. This also decreases the messiness, which is a plus. He has been on the diet for about four months and is returning to his normal self. We were hoping to change him to the dry food, however, the first attempt was unsuccessful. Although the food is a bit pricey, it is well worth it. Kisses is now happy and much healthier. Thanks!

Food is expensive but what the vet recomended for our dog's condition. The contents of the cans vary. The most recent can that I opened had a big hole in the contents (like an air pocket) so it was not the full amount in the can that should be there. This is not the first time that this happened.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Low Fat GI Restore Canine Canned Food:

Our dog's vet prescribed this diet in addition to some medications for our Labrador Retriever who has a sensitive digestive track. She started to improve from day one and after a few weeks is feeling so much better.

This food was prescribed by my vet for my 12yr old Westie who was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. He eats both the canned and dry food and really likes it! I am glad he is feeling better thanks to this great food! Keep up the good work Hills!

My Yorkies love table scraps unfortunately , I was killing them . One of them ended up with pancreatititis, which cost me 1000.00 at the vet. They put him on this dog food and he has totally recovered. He loves it , thank God .

    Too Expensive

    By TheMomofBambi

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Low Fat GI Restore Canine Canned Food:

My dog enjoys the food and it is what she needs to be healthy. It is just TOO EXPENSIVE and the fact that a prescription is needed for it is utterly ridiculous.

    Dog is well!

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Low Fat GI Restore Canine Canned Food:

In combination with other treatments and this product, the dog's health has returned to normal. As a precaution, the food is still being fed. However, the product is overpriced in my opinion.
