We have a 11 pound Pomeranian. He was rescued from a severely abusive home. Best estimate is that he is about nine years old. He has about six teeth left (the rest had to be extracted). He recently had a life-threatening bout with acute pancreatitis. By God's grace, he survived, but his acute pancreatitis is now chronic pancreatitis. He is now home and has been eating only canned low fat ID. For the first three weeks, he wasn't thrilled about the change in diet (he was also still recovering and taking antibiotics). He now loves the food and will do his typical "food dance" at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We mix his food with some warm water to ensure that he is getting lots of fluids. This also decreases the messiness, which is a plus. He has been on the diet for about four months and is returning to his normal self. We were hoping to change him to the dry food, however, the first attempt was unsuccessful. Although the food is a bit pricey, it is well worth it. Kisses is now happy and much healthier. Thanks!

Food is expensive but what the vet recomended for our dog's condition. The contents of the cans vary. The most recent can that I opened had a big hole in the contents (like an air pocket) so it was not the full amount in the can that should be there. This is not the first time that this happened.

    Healthly Dog

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Low Fat GI Restore Canine Canned Food:

Coco is his name and I took him over when his owner went into a nursing home. His was way overweight at 15lbs. He had digestive problems also so I put him on Hill's Id Low Fat, it took a year as now he is down to 9lbs and can now go for a walk without panting and he likes the food real well. He is over 13yrs old and really doing well.

    Bouncy Dog

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Low Fat GI Restore Canine Canned Food:

My Dalmatian has always had a sensative digestive system, with occasional diarrhea. I tried many brands but landed in one that I thought was better than the rest and just settled in that was the best it was going to get, still with some issues. But, after a bought with hemorrhagic Gastroentitis, my vet started my dog on i/d Low Fat. My dog LOVES it! He has so much more energy. No diarrhea. He is visibly more bouncy, happy, and playful. And, although I have a cupboard full of the other reputable brand, I have kept him on this diet. It just works!

    Bulldog owner!

    By Dannyboy

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Low Fat GI Restore Canine Canned Food:

the average bulldog has a sensitive stomach but according to my vet, my bulldog is even more sensitive. We took him in when he was having some pancreas issues which resulted in his loss of appetite. Normally, our dogs appetite is so strong that he could eat himself to death. The vet recommended this stuff. Since then, he has had a few stomach aches and we always resort to this. The price can be a little steep so when we use it as an everyday meal, we blend with his kibble just to make the digestion a little easier on him.

Our dogs love the small kibble. They have not had reflux pneumonia since starting this food. I mix dry of the same with canned.
