Another recent reviewer (2/12/2017) claimed that this dog food - Hill's Prescription Diet digestive care i/d low fat - contains propylene glycol. So, I took a close look for myself at the ingredients listed on 1)a new 27.5lb bag received today from Pet360, 2) the Pet360 web site, and 3) the Hill's PD website, and there is absolutely no mention anywhere of propylene glycol as an ingredient in this particular brand of dog food. Maybe it is an older bag or another brand of Hill's Science dog food. Finally, I contacted the company and they confirmed that there is no propylene glycol in this bag of dry dog food. I will continue to use it so long as it works for me and my dog.

Expensive but necessary

Product is necessary because of my dog's health. Product is expensive especially since she goes through a 17.6 lb bag of food a month. I got an e-mail saying this product was on sale...Read complete review

We feed this to our dog combined with a small amount of the complimentary canned / wet food mixed in, and he seems to like it. We feed him twice per day to try and keep something in his stomach throughout the day. This product is no more expensive than a similar sized bag of regular Royal Canin or BilJac when Pet360 is running excellent promotions like 20% off (friends20), added 10% off for auto-ship, and added 5% off for Rx discount, totaling 35% off! Their prices cannot be beat!

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Low Fat Dry Food:

My vet recommended the Science Diet dry dog food for weight loss for my older dachshunds and then I decided to look up what is in it and low and behold it has Propylene Glycol in it which is an ingredient in anti freeze!!!! It causes cancer and Kidney failure and death as it builds up in the dogs body, no wonder we are having so many dogs dieing. I also read that many other dog food companies use this ingredient for a preservative. It also said it has already been taken out of cat food because it is so dangerous to cats. Wow whats with this Hills and Science Diet????? I really thought I was doing something good and healthy for my dogs but I see it is not, in fact it is a death sentence for my fur babies and I will never forgive myself for giving them your dog food. I feel like I have shortened their little lives and they are so innocent because they are dependent on us to care for them and give them and feed them a healthy safe diet. Why would a company who leads us to believe they are a reputable company who claims to care about dogs, put this poison in their dog foods. I hope you have a good explanation for this one Science Diet and Hills dog food company, because I don't believe there is a good explanation for this except money the good old dollar sign. As long as you put Propylene Glycol in the dog food it preserves it from getting old which makes it last longer on the shelf and in the warehouse, so there for it saves you money Science Diet and Hills by not having to throw away out dated old dog food as soon, since it is preserved by Propylene Glycol and will last longer on the shelf and in the warehouse which saves your company money, that's where the good old dollar comes in, and you save the good old dollar, Science diet and Hills. I am so saddened by this. There is an article on the web about Science Diet getting the government ok to use this Propylene Glycol in their dog food too, so if the governments involved you know its bad. By the way I also read that all vets that sell Science Diet and Hills dog food gets a compensation Kick back for selling all they can. I am also dissappointed in my vet for recommending this dog food. I believe he knows better besides if he can sell me this dog food and cause kidney failure or cancer in my dogs then he makes money too because I would take them to him for a check up and treatment. What a racket!! What a bunch of dishonest thieves and and fur baby killers. Shame on all of you who are involved in this scam!!!! I, as would many other dog owners like an explanation for your use of Propylene Glycol in your dog foods although I don't believe there is a good enough explanation out there to help my fur babies now that their lives have been shortened..

My dog love it, and it is a good thing, because she had a severe case of pancreatitis. The low fat diet is good for her.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Low Fat Dry Food:

My dog Jasper has a very sensitive digestive system. Before I began giving him this food, I bought higher quality over the counter food. He would often start gagging and was in distress. This problem has gone away since he has been on this food. He loves the taste. I feed him little portions through out the day. He was just into see the vet and he is in perfect health. I will not feed him anything else.
