My dog was failing. He had bloody diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia. Extensive tests found no medical reason. After supportive care, he was started on GI Restore, and he improved immediately. He has no more GI problems and is more active and happier than ever.
This food is hard to find because it is a highly specialized product and not many vets carry it. It is very costly and is too expensive to purchase online. If those things could be improved, it would be awesome!

I have recently begun a trial of the i/d low fat prescription diet food for my lhasapoo, as recommended by her vet. She will eat the i/d low fat most of the time, but she does not seem to enjoy it as much as she did the previous food she was on (also a Science Diet product). More times than not, she has to be coaxed to begin eating or to finish all of the food, and she has to be fed away from the other dogs in my house to avoid her eating their food instead. The cost of the i/d low fat is quite a bit higher than the other prescription diet foods I feed, and I am not certain that I will continue to use this food after the bag I currently have is gone. I would still recommend this as a quality food, but I would say that my dog did not like the taste and that it is much more expensive.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Low Fat GI Restore Canine Dry Food:

This food helped our beloved dog recover from pancreatitis that nearly killed her. It's expensive, and Rx only, but it works well with her delicate digestive system -- low fat only.

    We are grateful!

My 5yr old black lab mix has recently been diagnosed with chronic hepatitis and pancreatitis. the meds and food he was on caused a bleeding ulcer so the ended up puting him on the I/D low fat food it has helped him so much. however the cost and only able to get it from the vet is a huge disappointment.
