Amazing Thunder Shirt

By Donna the cat lover

from Northern, NJ

About Me Long-time Pet Owner

  • Comfortable For Pet
  • Easy To Clean
  • Long Lasting

  • Not enough colors

Best Uses

  • Small Pets

My 1 y/o cat has been wearing the thunder shirt for 2 months now and he loves it. He is very active and bothers the older f/m cat. As soon as we put it on, he calms down and does not bother her. He will wear it over night and some times during the day. It is comfortable and he can move about normally. It has been the answer to our behavior problem. Would definitely recommend it.

Did not Work

By ScaredyCat

from Philly, PA

I really wanted this to work. I have a Persian and she is a scaredy cat. I followed the instructions. But everytime I tried to apply this shirt to the cat, she was so afraid of it, it was awful. Now she uses it as a pillow.

Brilliant--excellent for travel

By Catapult

  • Innovative
  • It works
  • Protection from cold

  • Too warm in summer

Best Uses

  • Air travel
  • Loud Noises
  • Pilling Your Cat
  • Travel
  • Vet Visit

I was so happy to find this. I was looking to fly with my cats and wanted to find something that would support them from the chaos and stress. I cancelled my plans, but I tried it on both cats at home who got very mellow when they could have found it irritating. I believe it would be great for trips to the vet as well. (I saw a video of a very mellow cat at the vet).

After trial and error I found the medium was the best size, albeit a bit big on my smaller cat requiring me to put it on as tight as I could to prevent her front paw from going in the neck and her walking out of it. On my bigger male it was the closest right size but it fit very snug under the elbows. I would check it during the trip to make sure it wasn't binding.

I think it would help cats during cooler air travel as it would act as a coat. But it could overheat them in summer.

Overall, I'm very impressed with how they mellowed out with the Thundershirts. Give them 30 min. a day to get used to it. Flopping over is normal. Now where can I get one for me? ;-)

The Thunder Shirt for Cats works!

By Parent of a Jekyll & Hyde kitty

from Chippewa Lake, Ohio

About Me Long-time Pet Owner

Verified Reviewer

  • Comfortable For Pet
  • Works as advertised

  • Hard to put on cat
  • Needs better instructions

Best Uses

  • Going to vet or groomer

One of my cats, Simon, is so docile that sometimes I have to wake him up to eat. But, when he is at the vet's office or groomer, he becomes extremely expressive of his displeasure. He actually screams, hisses and growls, even if a technician is just walking by the carrier. By the time I get him in the examining room, he is completely stressed. The Thunder Shirt is amazing and works as it is advertised. Once the shirt goes on, which is a little difficult (needs better instructions), he takes a few steps and then he flops down on his side and is docile once again.
