Comments about Back to Basics Open Range Formula Dry Dog Food:

I have a 7 month of chocolate Lab and he had a hard time in the beginning with different food options. Labs can be prone to food intolerances which contribute to ear infections, itchy dry skin, impacted glands, and other issues. He had a terrible reaction (ear infection that triggered an auto-immune response) to Blue Buffalo large breed puppy food. The third and fourth ingredients were rice and barley- leading me to believe he had grain intolerances. I am sure Blue Buffalo is great for some dogs, but for Murphy it was terrible. We switch to Back to Basics and have tried the Open Range, Duck, Lamb and Potato recipes and by far his favorite is the Open Range Formula. The Lamb and Potato is a larger kibble size and he had a hard time chewing each piece- although his allergy symptoms were completely gone on this formula. He would jump at the Duck formula but it contained egg powder- egg can be a common allergen and he suffered loose stool and impacted glands. We discovered the Open Range formula and since then we have had clean ears, easy to pick up stool, no itchy, and a dog that jumps at dinner time. His coat is shiny and soft. I recommended to a friend with a 6 year old yellow lab who has had issues all her life with ear infections and eating grass (so much that she had to have surgery to remove undigested grass last year). After 3 weeks her ears are clean and she no longer eats grass. Her owner commented that she has "some pep in her step again". I am so happy we found a food that is suitable for all life stages and is keeping our puppy happy and healthy - since switching to this food we have not had to see the vet for any digestive issues, we haven't seen them at all. Could not be happier
