Since my cat was diagnosed with CRF (chronic renal failure in May of this year (2009) I have tried Hills K/D, Royal Canin Renal, Iams and Purina Renal diets & even though she seemed to like them all on 1st or 2nd feedings(except for the purina renal which she would not eat at all) she then refused them. THEN I tried this HI-TOR brand and she still prefers it over the others after 2 months and still eats it readily. It is VERY MOIST (I dont have to add water to make it mushy) and can be totally licked up - Great for my 15 year old cat that is tooth-challenged (has only a few teeth). Wish I would have found this earlier - would have saved me alot of $$ - costs less than the Royal C too! I like the moisture content - important for CRF. Over 6 months since diagnosis and she is doing great so far.

If you've been feeding this to your cat for awhile, please note that the formula has recently changed. My cat doesn't like it nearly as much as the old formula, but will still eat it with a little effort. All in all, seemingly one of the more palatable renal foods, even with the change.

Kitty enjoys the food and needed no transition from previous regular food. Soft, smooth texture. One can lasts longer than expected / more servings from one can than it looks like. A couple of cans seemed to "leak"--or maybe just condense--some liquid onto the bottom of the box they were in, but this caused no problem.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have an older cat with kidney issues and have struggled to find food that he's happy with. I decided to risk ordering a case based on the positive feedback here. I'm so glad I did. My cat really loves this food, and I'm happy to see him eating more again. He seems to love the juiciness that many other canned kidney diets lack.

I've been trying to find lower protein/phosphorus foods for my 17 year old CRF kitty without going to the prescription diets. I'm lucky that my kitty loves to eat-and he scarfs this food up! With this food and 1/2 of a 10 mg zantac twice a day, he seems to be feeling better and not losing as much weight. I'm realistic about his illness; this is not a cure, but I want him to be as comfortable as possible. This food seems to really help.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Almost to Exact ingredents as Hill's science diet K/D Wet. but about $40.00 cheaper per case. Vet blood test now show Cat's urine is in line with a healthy cat and I won't go broke. Thanks Hi-Thor
