With owning several cats of all ages I have tried so many veterinary diet foods in the past for one reason or another. Not one of them did they like until now. I dread it when the vet suggest a certain vet food because I know they will end up not eating it. Well not with this food. My cat loved it. It really helped with his condition which was chronic diarrhea. Although it is for diabetic cats my vets suggested it after attending a seminar on the subject. My cat had lost so much weight and was looking awful. After a couple of weeks on this food he gained a whole lb. and his stool hardened up and his fur got soft again. Will continue to purchase it.

my two cats have been on the dm dry and both of the dm wet for about 2 years and their has not been much of a change in their weight. one is a grey tabby and the other is a orange tabby, who is also a diabetic. both had weight problems. they are both 7 years old and are brothers. our vet suggested this type for both. the diabetic was losing weight and the other one was over weight.the diabetic is staying at about14 to 15 lbs.the other cat is between 20 to 22 lbs. which our vet said is too much weight.they each split one cup in the am of the dry,and split a half a cup of dry for lunch , and split one can of the wet for supper.why does it seem the one cat cannot seem to lose weight? the vet said it is a slow process, but being on it for 2 years I would expect better reusts then we are getting I would appreiciate if you might be able to comment on this or if we are doing something wrong. are vet seems to think what we are doing should be helping. also the price increase has made it more difficult to be able to afford it! the dm feline10lb. bag went from $41.67 to $54.39. and the dm feline 5.5 oz. cans went from$34.80 to $45.59.I also noticed the new packaging, but cannot justify the increase for that. there was nothing wrong with the old one.I hope to hear from you in regards to both things I have brought to your attention. A CONCERNED CAT LOVER AND OWNER !!!!!!

Our cat likes it

By TRKS

Comments about Purina Veterinary Diets DM Dietetic Management Feline Formula Dry Food:

Our newly diabetic cat seems to like it. But as I have become educated on a low carb feline diet, and how to crunch the numbers, I have found I can find lower carb dry cat food than dm purina. There aren't many. I give her a choice, one is purina and the other is evos. She eats them equally. We also are using the purina dm canned food as well. There are two types, morsels w gravy and ground. She prefers the ground but overall is not crazy about either canned. Again, have found multiple, in this instance, lower carb content canned food than purina.

Diet alone reversed my cat's diabetes

By Very happy

from Chappaqua, NY

Comments about Purina Veterinary Diets DM Dietetic Management Feline Formula Dry Food:

My 10yr old 21lb cat was frankly diabetic, with a sky high blood sugar, spilling sugar in his urine and frequently unable to get to his litter box. My vet suggested wet Purina DM food and said that if the Champ did not lose weight and normalize his blood sugar, he would have to start insulin. Over the past 9 months the Champ has lost weight, and at 17lbs, his diabetes is in remission. His 'accidents' have stopped, the dandruff on his coat is no more and he is much more active than previously. I have starred his litter mate on the same diet, as with the same gene pool, diabetes may be in her future as well. Both had always been given ad lib Purina indoor cat food but the carbohydrate load was too much stress on their pancreatic function. I only wish that it was not so costly.
