My 11.5 year old pekingese is a picky eater and has a history of allergies to commercial dog food. She had been eating the Royal Canin RX for high protein for Sensitive Stomachs/Food Allergies (duck and venison) prior to us discovering her kidney issues. We tried the Hills Renal RX diet but that irritated her stomach and she didn't like it. We also tried cooking for her the prescription renal recipes provided to us by the renal specialist we saw, but I didn't feel confident she was eating enough. So we got a prescription from our vet and tried Royal Canin Renal, which is so far giving her -0- food allergies and seems to be digested well. She's not crazy about it, but will eat it.

Bambi a pit bull mix had bad allergies since we move to Florida. Bambi was diagnosed with renal failure and has been in treatment for over a year.
Our veterinarian has put Bambi on this food since she came home from the hospital. I am surprise her coat got better and her numbers at the last blood check got better. Bambi is a cute girl and deserve the best. Bambi and I recommend this food for your Dog if it has Kidney Failure.

My little girl has kidney issues so our vet put her on this food and I have to admit I was very uneasy at first because she is quite particular about her food and I was afraid she would not take to the change. But she loves it and she is doing so much better that I would recomend it to others is needed.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Renal LP Modified Formula Canned Dog Food:

My dear, elderly (13yo) terrier was stricken with acute renal failure almost a year ago. When he came home from the hospital, our Vet put him on Royal Canin Renal LP. He has eaten only that ever since, and has remained healthy. He eats it enthusiastically. It is pricey compared to grocery store dog foods, but not terribly so.
