Sampson kitty just turned 10 and at the last vet visit he was 19#. For his size was not too bad, but the vet said he could loose 2-3# for his health! A week later I noticed that he was drinking and eating a lot more and his output was way up too. Worried that he may be in the beginnings of a diabetic situation, I started researching about diabetes and low carb foods for cats, and this was one was A)in the lowest fillers, and calories,B)I could afford!
I received the food and the 6.6# bag felt like 10# and as soon as I filled the bowel he was all over it! For my sanity I use a self feeder and he grazes/eats when he wants. It has been three weeks and he eats less wet food in the AM, (which neighborhood stray is happy)and dry. His urinary and fecal output has decreased in both means and odor. Overall he does seem to have lost some weight, as his shape is more defined; and his coat is like silk. He is an indoor cat that doesn't comma sleep all day anymore and has more interest in what is going on outside. He loves the taste, and since it is so filling eats less. So don't be discouraged if you first think kitty doesn't like b/c not eating as much!

My family calls this cat food "crack" for cats. My thin lanky cat loves this food so much she has become a butter ball. This is not an exaggeration at all. :) She now weighs more then my cat who was always tubby at 15 pounds.

However, this isn't what is causing me to write this less than stellar review. The issues I have is while my cat still has beautifully soft, full coat of hair it has lost it's shine. She also has terrible gas from this food. I thought maybe it was due to needing to adjust to the new food so I gave her time. However after 5 months of eating the food she still has gas from the inulin (prebiotics) that are in the food and her coat is still without shine. I suspect that the essential fatty acid balance is off in this food. And as a food scientist I recommend that the company should use another source of prebiotics. There are several new ones on the market that do not cause gas in humans or animals.

I bought this food for my cat who has tummy issues. No matter what food I tried, she always had loose stools until I tried EVO dry. It did the trick and she love eating it.

Comments about EVO Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Cat Food:

I'm not a fan of feeding dry food to my cats, but this is one of the better brands out there.
I thought for sure they wouldn't like it, as I have tried several of the other "better" brands,
with no luck. I usually ended up wasting my money, some of them they wouldn't even try.
They seem to really like EVO! Because it's high in protein and calories, you need to feed them less.
So even though it's pricier, it's worth the money, and lasts longer (because you use less).

Comments about EVO Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Cat Food:

I switched my kitten to EVO after he was experiencing diarrhea from conventional dry food. We were lucky enough to have been given a sample of this food (along with a few other grain-free options) from a local dedicated pet care store, and this was the one that he seemed to like the best. I'm happy to report that his digestive issues have been completely resolved on this diet, but he loves it so much we've had to restrict how much he can eat! In fact, I just ordered the diet version of the EVO dry food, in hopes it will help keep his weight on track. Overall, my cat (he's now just over a year old) is in wonderful health and I attribute that in part to the healthy food (we don't feed him anything else). He even seems to be resistent to fleas, which amazes me because he's outside more than 50% of the time yet we don't give him Frontline or any other flea treatment. I think a healthy cat with healthy fur and healthy digestion is less vulnerable to all parasites. The food is a bit pricey, but if you order the larger bags and more than one at a time, you get free shipping, and frankly...it's worth it because I do believe we have fewer vet visits because of it!
