I have a 5 year old cat and when I took him to the vet she gave me a sample bag of this food and told me that he should eat it to help the build up on his teeth. I sprinkled a few pellets on top of his regular food for days and found that he loved it, so now I order it regularly.

My cat simply swallows the kibble. This product will do nothing to help her plaque/tartar buildup. I used to use their grocery store brand - the kibble size was perfect. This new formula has much smaller kibble. The whole point is for the cat to chew the food and break tartar and plaque off their teeth. This product does not deliver on that. And my cat is a very small burmese breed, with a tiny jaw.

Comments about Purina Veterinary Diets DH Dental Health Feline Formula Dry Food:

I purchased 2 bags of the Purina DH in October and my cat usually eats one bag in 3 months, both of the bags had "best by" dates of December. After learning that the best by date does not mean the food is bad, however much of the nutritional value is degraded. I am very disappointed that they did not send fresher food, especially since I was buying 2 bags at once.

Comments about Purina Veterinary Diets DH Dental Health Feline Formula Dry Food:

We feed our older cats this Purina DH as well as Science Diet Oral Care based on our vet's recommendation. They also get Greenies and one of them likes the C.E.T. Oral Chews. We have two new Maine Coon girls (6 months old now) and they get Royal Canin kitten formula. Needless to say, the older cats snack on the kitten feed and the young girls seem to like the dental health food, so everyone gets some of everything, including Friskies moist food (1 can shared by all four of the cats each day).

Comments about Purina Veterinary Diets DH Dental Health Feline Formula Dry Food:

Mixing this larger sized Dental Diet in with regular due to cost of the Purina Dental Diet. When this was an on the shelf grocery store item, and reasonably priced, it was our cats main food. Seems to help dental cleanliness. Main reason for purchase...it is his favorite food. Picks it out and eats it first! Purina has improved quality-- at one point the bags contained very hard lumps of the food pieces.

My older cat likes the larger size. It helps to reduce the need for frequent cleanings.

Our 3 cats all benefit from a dental diet. We use both Hills Science Diet Oral Care and this Purina Veterinary Diets DH as well as providing treat time with Feline Greenies. Our vet says they are all doing pretty well for their ages.
