Happy is a 5 year old dachshund that I rescued. He was over weight and had some problems at the vet adjusting and they put him on Sensitive Stomach. Upon adopting him my vet decided to switch him to the Science Diet r/d to help him lose weight. He would not touch it! Became ill from not eating and we switched back to the Iams Sensitive Stomach and he is losing weight and eating his bowl clean twice daily! Happy will stay on this food forever!

I consider this to be a low quality food for the reasons stated by reviewers like online review site Dog Food Advisor. But my dog developed Irritable Bowel Disease and it has resolved her chronic diarrhea. I wish very much that they used better quality ingredients. She is 14-15 years old and being treated for cutaneous lymphoma. Now more than ever she needs the best nutrition. My recommendation would be not to use this food unless your veterinarian has no other option for your dog.

Comments about Iams Veterinary Formulas Iams Low Residue Dog Food - Veterinary Formula Intestinal Plus:
I fed my dog Iams for years thinking it was the best because the vet said so, turns out the vets who endorse this are wrong. This food is deplorable.
When my dog turned 5 she grew to reject this food to the point where she could not keep down one kibble of it without vomiting.
All of the pups I tried to raise on this brand of food were always sickly in comparison to the pups I now feed grain-free.
Please, do your own research before deciding on what 's right to feed your fur babies.

Comments about Iams Veterinary Formulas Iams Low Residue Dog Food - Veterinary Formula Intestinal Plus:
Our Golden Doodle has a very sensitive digestive system. Our vet prescribed Iams Low Res (now called Intestinal Plus) to keep her stools regular and to basically cancel out very loose stools or bouts of diarrhea. If you can't stand to pick up one more accident, this may be the answer. It certainly was ours thanks to our vet diagnosing the problem. The great news is this line works immediately. Although it is not cheap, it is excellent value and the only answer. Our Shelby can now keep to a normal schedule but the rug cleaning company sure does miss our business!
Our dog finds it easy to digest, and she looks forward to her two feeding a days. I pair it with the Intestinal Plus canned food since crumbs alone are not that interesting to her. The downside is sticking to the regimen and blandness of not offering her "extra treats" ,at home, the groomers, or elsewhere. Even feeding her one Imes dog bone treat that is NOT low res will set her system off. I also believe that since it is low in fiber and higher in fat one must be diligent as to how much you feed your dog since weight gain can happen quickly. This product has changed the life of our dog and ours! If your dog's stool is always loose, or if your dog is having many accidents at the exit door, please ask your vet to learn if your pooch is a candidate for this prescription only product (in some states.) BTW: This product will not cause constipation. We found that serving Shelby filtered refrigerator-cold water at her feedings increases her tendency to drink more. It is a good combo of quality food and H20 to the rescue!
