My 14 year old boy Felix has had urinary problems for the last few years and at times his painful blockages have required expensive treatments to flush him out. He had another episode about a year ago so I took him into the vet again and this time the news was much worse. Apparently all the pushing and straining had resulted in him herniating his colon and the prognosis was not good. The vet discussed surgery, quality of life issues, etc., and I all I could think of was that I was not ready to have this conversation at all. I took him home to think, but also with a prescription for Iams Low Residue Cat Food which the vet said might help. Well, not only did it help but he lost a few pounds and has become happy and active again; he races thru the house now and he hasn't done that in years! It took a few days for him to adjust to his new food and he but now he eats a can a day and nothing else which probably helped with the weight loss. My only issue with the food is that its a bit dry, so I add a bit of warm water and Felix seems to like it much better. I can't recommend this food enough if your cat suffers from intestinal or urinary problems.

Cats will NOT touch this food

Unfortunately, one of my five cats has had liquid diarrhea for at least 6 months. Tests show nothing wrong, so vets assume it's IBS or something similar and have prescribed gastro-intestinal foods.
Because it's not possible to separate the cats for feeding, all must be fed this extremely expensive food, so when NONE of them will touch the food, it's a complete waste of money ... literally down the drain.
The only one of the four brands my cats will eat is the Purina EN, and a little of the Science Diet ID, but now I'm stuck with cases of Royal Canin and Iams.

I add a Luxolite (clay substance) to the food and a bit of filtered water so it is not so dry. My 12 yr.-old cat is really bad with loose stools going on for 1 1/2 yrs. She has taken meds+ sees the Vet. Hopefully she will improve. Last resort. Maybe a touch of differencein her stools and looking for her to get better. ^_^

My cat has pancreatitis & we are maintaining his chronic illness with a combo of this food & Hills I/D as well. He likes them both, especially this food, as it is very moist & easy to chew.
