Our vet noticed slightly elevated kidney enzyme levels, the last time we took in our cat. She promptly prescribed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d dry and wet food. Our cat took to it easily... Heck, she devoured it!

She genuinely seems to enjoy it more than her previous brands of dry and wet catfood. We've been feeding her Hill's k/d exclusively, and she has yet to tire of it. Her stool is consistent, she's still very energetic & pleasant, her coat is shiny and plush, and her teeth stay nice and clean. The only negative, from my perspective, is that the dry food stinks really bad. I have to hold my breath during, and scrub my hands after feeding. However, from my cat's perspective, it's great. If the sound of the bag doesn't rouse her, the smell seems to wake her right up.

Upon our most recent visit, the our vet indicated that her kidney enzyme levels have improved slightly, and her health is as good as ever, which is a sign that Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Feline Dry Food is the good stuff.

I'm so confused about the Prescription foods. And they ALL basically carry the same ingredients. But each and every article I've read about things to avoid in cat food, say the same thing about Brewers Rice and Gluten. They top the list of what NOT to feed your cat, yet they top the list of ingredients in prescription foods for felines. None of the vets I've spoken with can explain it. In fact, two of the three I've talked to admitted they know nothing about cat food ingredients.

Cats enjoy eating it.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Feline Dry Food:

Being difficult to determine the effectiveness, all I can really say in the short time we've been using the product, is that the cats seem to like the food. I'll trust the vet and Hill's that it will help keep our cats urinary tracts free from (or minimize) any issues,

When you have an animal with health issues, it's really great to be able to match the food to their problem to help us stay out of the vet's office.

smaller pieces

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Feline Dry Food:

So glad you make the k/d in smaller pieces!! My 16yo male was having problems he seems to be doing well. Thank you. Is there any way you might come up with some treats for the senior cat with kidney issues? I am hesitant to give mine much more than his regular food. Thank you.

It took some time for them to accept the different flavor, but urinary health seems much better after 3 weeks.

This product seems to keep my cat's condition from getting worse.

By kerry190

from Dobson, NC 27017, USA

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Feline Dry Food:

I have been using this product for over a year. It was recommended by our vet. Initially I tried the canned wet food. Since my cat (Bob) was use to only eating dry food after two cans of wet food (same product) switched to only the dry food. Since my cat (Bob) does not like stale food I buy the 8 lb bag and divide into 3 plastic bags. This works out real well and Bob eats a normal serving every day. Only when I open a fresh bag of quality non-prescription dry cat food for my second cat (Betty) I need to keep an eye on Bob so he does not eat Betty's food. After Betty's bag of cat food has been open for two weeks, Bob no longer tries to eat her food. Instead, he acts like he is trying to cover it like his messes in the litter box. Since Bob's been eating this for over a year he still acts like before he was diagnosed and needed a special diet.
