I know every puppy/dog is biologically different from the next one. So this is only MY experience with our 9 mo boxer. We've tried everything IAMs, Solid Gold, Organix, Ultramix, Canidae and a few others. He did ok on IAMs, but the ingredients are questionable at best. Solid Gold he loved, but it caused very loose stools and the odor was unbearable. He did the best on Organix and Ultramix but we were trying to find a better/cheaper food. He did the worst on Canidae. In fact, he itched a lot and woke up several times a night needing to go outdoors to potty (which is great training for our upcoming baby, but we're not ready for that yet). His gas was also life changing to say the least. We finally found TOTW at a local pet store (not a box store) and for the price decided to give it a try. We've only had him on it for a couple weeks or so, but fortunately he's sleeping through the night again and his stools are solid and fewer. It also is a 6-star rated food at [@].Give it a shot, it might just work for your dog.

Comments about Taste of the Wild Wetlands Canine Formula with Roasted Wild Fowl Dry Dog Food:

I remember when the Diamond Food Company introduced the Taste of the Wild brand about 8 or so years ago. Diamond was well known at our chain as an above average food with respectable product sources and using fresh meat, at that time VERY UNIQUE, and keeping up with innovations in pet food nutrition.

Taste of the Wild's claim to fame is following the recipe of success for their other brands of Premium Edge, Diamond, Professional and Chicken Soup; Present the pet food world with FRESH ingredients, utilizing higher quality product, unique innovative ingredients from well run facilities while keeping the cost reasonable for customers.

What makes Taste of the Wild that much more unique: higher amounts of protein. Fresh protein. Straight sourced protein. (A key guide to dog food that was always helpful back in my day: It's not the FIRST ingredient, it's the first 6-8 ingredients are the bulk of the ingredients of any formula) Their T.O.W. diets consist of 4 or more proteins and higher quality grain or secondary ingredients (brown rice, sweet potatoes, blueberries..etc)

The only downfall I've had reported back is that some pets find the formula, protein heavy, a bit rich for their digestive track. Canines and Felines are carnivores, plain and simple. But after years and years of diets being so heavily grained down, some pets just may not be able to overcome this.

Comments about Taste of the Wild Wetlands Canine Formula with Roasted Wild Fowl Dry Dog Food:

I have a mutt (lab/collie/pitt) who is very active and very sensitive to foods. We have tried numerous other brands, including the higher priced ones like Wellness and Blue Buffalo. However, TOTW is the ONLY brand we have tried that doesn't make him shed and itch like crazy. He has been on it for 2 years and we have had no issues. Our vet always compliments his coat, teeth, and overall health and never tries to push any other food on him.

As for the flavor, he will not eat anything else. We have tried all of the other flavors, but he is just not interested. I think that is just him being picky though.

I would only recommend this to active dogs though because of the protein content.

Both my 8 pound chihuahua and my 50 pound pit/lab/beagle mix eat this food and they both enjoy it. My larger dog had a little bit of gas the first week or so on this food, but that passed quickly. Their coats are much more soft and shiny now, too!

Comments about Taste of the Wild Wetlands Canine Formula with Roasted Wild Fowl Dry Dog Food:

My dogs readily eat Taste of the Wild and they're quite picky. The kibble pieces are a good size for small dogs and it's grain free for dogs with grain allergies. My two dogs have been eating it for several years and they're doing really well on it.
