Our 11 lb shih Tzu, Gaby, developed diarrhea/loose stool in December. We had just rescued a beagle/basset hound, Eddie, in Dec. On top of this transition, Gaby went to the groomers and on the same day she saw Eddie get attacked by our neighbors dog. (stress!) In the same weekend we had to give the dogs their monthly heartworm medicine, which typically makes Gaby either throw up once or have some diarrhea. So this did not help. We had also switched the food for the dogs trying to transition to a "better" food. We had a hard time finding one that worked. Eddie got better (he had vomited at one point) but Gaby couldn't shake the diarrhea/loose stool. We put her on rice and chicken which typically works but she kept getting constipated. We tried pumpkin but she would then go back to diarrhea. I was getting frustrated because otherwise, she was drinking, going to the bathroom, playing etc. But I could tell eventually this was going to move to something worse if we did nothing. Our vet recommended ID gastrointestinal. At first I thought it was too much money and wasn't sure it would even work. I mean he sells it so I was skeptical. But, we decided this would be the cheapest route at this point. We bought this on Thursday. Gaby ate it immediately when we gave it to her. I was happy, but still not sure. She did not go poo right away and now its blowing and snowing (she hates blowing snow) so I was afraid she wouldn't go. BUT she actually did! AND it was not loose it was close to normal! I am so delighted and happy! I've noticed she seems to really like the taste and now that she is pooing close to normal I cannot say enough good things! I've since found out some co workers have used this food as well and had good results. It may be a tad expensive but considering the outcome I would definitely buy again and may stay with the brand all together! Thank you for helping my little Gaby!

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Canine Dry Food:

Our 14 year old Cocker has had major issues with diarrhea over the years. Ever since our Veterinarian suggested we switch to this Foo (almost 2 years ago now) her issues disappeard. Yes it is pricey, but we gave a happy and healthy dog again!

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Canine Dry Food:

My dog had started with digestive issues when he turned 4. The vets didn't think anything was wrong health wise so they decided to alter his diet. 4 different brands later and we finally found one that makes him regular and happy and he LOVES the taste, big egg eater. I would recommend this for all those picky dogs who have digestive upsets.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Canine Dry Food:

My dogs love this food. We mix the canned with the dry so it still helps with tartar on their teeth.
Their weights stay pretty steady on this food and it has cut down on trips to the vet for stomach
    problems.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Canine Dry Food:

My dog had Salmonella as a youngster and almost died, he's always had a sensitive stomach however as he's gotten older he can't tolorate many foods. We decided to put him in I/D and the change was overnight. No more coming home to diarrhea or vomiting etc. it's easier just to keep all my dogs on it so there is no chance of diet mix ups. I just wish there was a frequent buyer program or larger bag.
