I adopted a 7 month old kitten from a pet store in 2010. We named him Rocky. However, when Rocky was 2 years old, he suddenly started vomiting frequently and he passed a lot of gas. We took him to the vet and they diagnosed him with a wheat allergy and put him on an expensive food that could only be found in specialty pet food stores and at the vets office. It seemed to help for awhile, his vomiting and flatulence became less frequent. Shortly after Rocky's 4th birthday, we adopted another cat- a 6 month old kitten named Reginald. However, shortly after we brought Reginald home, Rocky started having off and on diarrhea. He was also quite lethargic. We brought a stool sample into the vets office and he was tested for parasites. The test came back negative. We decided to just wait to see if it went away on its own. he would have a few good days, but his diarrhea would always return within a few days. He also had 3 "accidents" which was very unusual for him. He had never had an accident before. After 2 and 1/2 months, his diarrhea had not gone away completely, so we put him on an antibiotic the vet prescribed, the antibiotic had no effect. We brought him into the vet again. The vet examined Rocky and ordered a blood draw and another stool test. He again tested negative for parasites and his bloodwork came back normal. The vet decided to put him on Hills id- what a difference! We discovered that along with being allergic to wheat, he was also allergic to canola oil (which was in his previous dry food), his diarrhea went away for good! Rocky is a picky eater and would turn up his nose at many dry foods we tried with him, but he loved Hills id! Rocky is now 5 years old. He has not had any diarrhea since the incident I described (almost a year ago). He never passes gas anymore. He isn't as energetic as Reginald (who is now a year and a half old) but isn't so lathargic. He vomits occasionally, but not as much as he used to. Rocky will likely need to be on this wheat-free, canola oil-free diet all his life, but that's okay, because as of right now he is doing well and is living a healthy life. We hope that Rocky lives a long life and stays healthy! Thank you, hills id!! Here's a picture of Rocky!

I have 2 cats that have eaten this food exclusively for years without a problem. The "new" shape without change of favor is refused by both cats. The favor must have changed because now I am in a battle to try to get them to eat the new formula. You can fool humans but not the felines!! This is the feline equivilent to "New Coke" several years ago!!

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Feline Dry Food:

The cat likes the food and can chew it easily because the pieces are fairly small. It helps her digestive health a lot.

    Hey Marley, he likes it!

    By Marleycommabobb

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Feline Dry Food:

My Marley was throwing up every so often on Science Diet. I had other cats do extremely well on science diet. While he loved Science Diet his tummy couldn't handle all the flavors. We tried other brands and finally took him to the vet. Since I have a preference to the Hill's brand the vet wrote him an RX for i/d dry food. HE LOVES IT! WE LOVE IT! No more vomit! Marley is now happy and healthy. The best part is...if you look every so often Hill's will give out coupons. Without the coupon the price is fair! We can get 64 feedings out of a 4 lb bag! If your kitty has an upset tummy tell your vet this is the food for her/him! Hill Prescription Diet ROCKS!

    serious diarrhea

    By Suzalah

    from Olympia, WA, USA

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Feline Dry Food:

My vet recommended this for a serious, foul smelliing diarrhea problem and within two days the stool had taken shape and was no longer an on-going problem. The kitty is not nuts about this stuff but she eats it and has gained weight. The price is high for me but I will cut back in other places for the health of my little friend

My Vet prescribed this food for my cat over a year ago. Since being on this food, his stomach upset episodes are practically non existent. Such a relief to know he is getting good food that is made specially for his sensitive tummy!
