Allergies are very irritating. Itching isnt cute. Indigestion is to be avoided at all costs. That is why I count on Hills Prescription Diet z/d Canine Skin & Food Senseitivities Canine Dry Food for my pets, designed by veterinarians for the diagnosis and nutritional management of food allergy and food intolerance in dogs. Also known as adverse reaction to food, this condition presents potentially serious problems that can result in sensitive or irritated skin, coat and ear conditions or even gastrointestinal upset. Most reactions occur because of an allergy to beef, dairy products or wheat. Prescription Diet z/d Canine Skin & Food Senseitivities food for dogs is formulated with Hill's Hydrolyzed Protein System of highly digestible proteins that minimize the chances of allergic reactions to food. This process breaks down intact animal proteins and virtually eliminates the possibility of an adverse reaction to food. Highly digestible carbohydrates and fats help reduce gastrointestinal workload; while increased omega 3 and 6 fatty acids help nourish the skin. Added antioxidants control cell oxidation and promote a healthy immune system and skin barrier function. For More Info Click Here: www.petfooddirect.com/Brand/Hill's-Prescription-Diet

my dog is allergic to every meat protein i have tried him on! this includes chicken, beef, lamb, venison, and whitefish. i gave up because at this point the only ones left were kangaroo, eel, and a rodent from australia! i was sure i would get the same reaction! i found ultra z/d and haven't had the need to try anything else!the itching is gone and the hair is back after less than a month!

Not surprisingly, our female Lab mix has a very sensitive stomach; z/d Ultra is the only thing we've found that she can consistently eat without getting sick (and even then it's hardly foolproof, as anything from a Cheez-It to a leaf in the yard can cause problems for days). We didn't know she had this issue when we got her, and I won't give her up just because she has a bad stomach, but it's not much fun and z/d is the only option we know of that offers any relief. That said, if we could find a less-expensive brand for her, we'd switch in a heartbeat. Honestly I find the price on this stuff ridiculous. I know that you have to pay for quality and I appreciate that it's available, but spending over $1,000 a year on dog food is beyond anything we ever expected. Incidentally, having to spend that much on food has reduced the amount that we've been able to budget towards other veterinary care, which sucks but is our reality. I thought that signing up for the website and printing out coupons would help, but it turns out that's only a one-time offer and is basically useless. Anyway- I would only recommend this as a last-ditch option for someone in our situation, but the cost would keep me from recommending it for any other reason. I have no problem with companies making a profit, but I get a pit in my stomach every month when I have to go pick up another bag, and I hope at some point Hills will either drop the price tag a bit or someone else will come out with an option that's viable for our dog.

My babies do like your food

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Canine Dry Food:

However I think the cost is way to much. If you have more than dog with special needs this food will drain your pocketbook. I have two with special needs, and sometimes I struggle cause I'm on a fixed income. You either need to lower the price or at least fill the bag up. I have a bag in front of me and it's only half full. Could you please give us a break we're trying to take care of these animals and not have them go to the humane society. Maybe higher coupons off or something. Thank you

Finally a solution

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Canine Dry Food:

We have two golden retrievers....Mia is 9 and Jake 1 year and a half. When Jake was 6 months old he began having trouble with food. Our vet at that time wasn't much help and they didn't want to recommend any type of food stating that they all have their favorites. A couple days before Christmas, after dealing with these problems for months......Jake broke out in a bad case of hives. It was like a lightbulb went off in our vets head......he suggested we try z/d. We had results almost immediately,. Jake was a different dog - much more content and not so aggitated. The hives went away and he has been on this food ever since. He will be 2 in November and the vet said we can try and wean him onto something else, but truthfully, this is worth the money. He is much happier and so are we.

My vet clinic wanted me to give this to my dog, because she was having some GI issues, they seemed to have all cleared. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

The best for GI sensitive dogs

By Buzbon

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Canine Dry Food:

We tried several dog food brands at the specialty pet stores and it was an effort to even get our little cavapoo ( half cavalier king charles spaniel and half toy poodle) to eat. He would have multiple episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. Then our vet had us try the Hills Science ZD ultra hypoallergenic food. We use the can and the kibble. Now he shakes with excitement before each meal which he chows down in no time. What a difference! I can't imagine what we would have to do if we didn't have this ZD food as an option. I sometimes think about his siblings and wonder if they also have this problem. But we are very grateful to Hills Science for creating this food that has helped our dog thrive and is now happy and healthy.

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Canine Dry Food:

My pug Lily has had terrible skin issues her entire life. She was getting sores and blisters in between her toes of her paws, in her folds and on her private areas and butt. Also , had constant ear infections and was miserable half the time. We switched her to ZD 4 years ago and it all ended. She hasn't had a sore since and has only had the occasional ear infection. She likes it, granted there isn't much food she does't like. We started adding a large spoon full of the canned ZD to her dry last year, just because she's old and deserves a little treat. She does still lick her feat a ton but we think it is more of a nervous habit than an itching issue. Great product and has saved a ton of money is vet appointments.
