Product Information

Large Breed Dogs can often have issues with their joints and coats. Even during adulthood, large breed dogs are subject to the effects of early aging such as joint sensitivity, and heart and digestive troubles. Research indicates that glucosamine hydrochloride and chondroitin sulfate, compounds naturally produced by the body, help maintain healthy joint cartilage. Vitamin E and Vitamin C, key compounds with a natural anti-oxidant function in cells, help large breed dogs maintain optimal health throughout their entire life. A diet with an optimal amino-acid profile promotes overall health and vitality.

Royal Canin Maxi Joint & Coat Care Formula Dry Dog Food is for large breed dogs prone to joint and coat sensitivities between 15 months and 5 years of age HEALTHY JOINTS

Due to their heavy weight, large breed dogs put more pressure on their joints. Very high levels of glucosamine (780 mg/kg) and chondroitin (220 mg/kg) help protect your large breed adult dog's joints. Omega 3 essential fatty acids coming from anchovy oil help limit inflammation of the joints.

Some dogs have coats that are more sensitive than others, and balanced nutrition helps in protecting the skin and enhancing coat beauty. Zinc, copper, biotin, Vitamins E & C, and Omega 3 essential fatty acids are included in this diet to protect the skin's natural barrier, while borage oil and Omega 6 fatty acids ensure a beautiful, shiny coat.

Due to the size of their intestinal tract in proportion to their overall body weight, large breed dogs are known to have more difficulty digesting food than small breed dogs. High quality proteins and a blend of fibers, including chicken meal, sodium silico aluminate, psyllium, MOS (mannan-oligosaccharides), and beet pulp contribute to a balanced and healthy intestinal flora. This means smaller, firmer stools that are easier to pick up.

It is very important to protect the heart of your large breed adult dog, to ensure a long and happy life. L-Carnitine (50 mg/kg), taurine, and the addition of antioxidants such as Vitamin E (500 mg/kg) and Vitamin C (200 mg/kg) help to protect cardiac function and promote optimal functioning of the heart

Comments about Royal Canin Maxi Joint & Coat Care 28 Dry Dog Food:

We got our Alaskan Malamute from a Mal rescue called CHAAMP. His original owners kept him chained outside from the time they brought him home (at 6 weeks) until the day he got loose and got hit by a car (about 6 months). A Good Samaratin took him to a vet. When the vet was able to reach the owners they refused responsibility. That relinquished any ties they had to the dog. That was the best thing that could have happened to King. CHAAMP took over his care and worked with the vet to get him healthy enough to have surgery. (He was dehydrated and suffered from malnourishment and other health issues. We got King from CHAAMP on 11/04/06. He was 16 months old then. We knew we had to watch him all the time to check for any signs of bone or joint problems, especially in his hind quarters. As soon as we saw the Royal Canin Maxi Joint & Coat Care we gave it a try. He's now 6 years old. It's still his favorite and he runs like the best of them!

The ethos of the Royal Canin brand is based on its unique vision of the dog and the cat: The conviction that dogs and cats are not human beings but animals, and as a result true respect obliges us to treat them as such. True respect implies certain obligations, one of which is the pursuit of knowledge. To truly know the animal and understand its specific physiological and nutritional requirements, and--in consequence--guarantee it a "tailor made" food in line with its real nutritional needs. Royal Canin's philosophy is therefore deliberately non-anthropomorphic. In the field of canine and feline nutrition, some manufacturers put the owners first and use them as the basis of all innovation. At Royal Canin, we put the dog and the cat at the heart of our research process; this is a radically different approach.
