What are the benefits?

    What outcomes can be expected?

Adequan starts to work within two hours of injection and stays in the joint for about four days after each injection. It may take up to four weeks to see a change in your pet. Your pet should starting moving better and feeling better once Adequan starts working.

    Who is it for: Dogs.

3.Multiple injections need to be given over several weeks as per your veterinarian.

4.Call your veterinarian if you have any questions about how to use Adequan correctly.

How does it work? Adequan Canine helps to maintain cartilage( smooth covering of the ends of the bones that make up joints). Most pets with arthritis and other joint problems have less cartilage which results in pain. Adequan works by inhibiting the enzymes that are responsible for cartilage break down. This helps to decrease inflammation and pain. It also promotes healthy joint fluid production.

Do not ever give by mouth. Your veterinarian can train you how to give injections or he/she may elect to administer each injections. It usually takes several injections over several weeks to assess the results properly.

Uses: Adequan is an injection that helps to lubricate the cartilage which helps to protect joints and reduce the symptoms of arthritis and other joint problems.

Storage:Store at room temperature in a safe place away from children and pets.

Possible Side Effects: Adequan is usually well tolerated. Side effects can include pain or swelling at the injection site or decreased blood clotting which can result in nose bleeds or bloody stool. A true allergic reaction is also possible but rare. Call your veterinarian immediately if your pet appears ill after being given Adequan.

Precautions:Use with caution or avoid use in pets with bleeding disorders, kidney disease, and liver disease. Caution should also be used in breeding, lactating, and pregnant dogs. Always discuss the risks and benefits with your veterinarian prior to use.

Always discuss all options for your pet’s arthritis or joint problems including weight loss, pain relievers, and surgery where indicated.

Drug and Food Interactions: Always tell your veterinarian about any other medications your pet is taking prior to using Adequan. This includes the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and other drugs that can affect blood clotting(ex. heparin, warfarin) since interactions are possible.

Rocky is a German Shepard/Husky mix and like most big dogs has hip problems. My vet recommended trying shots of Canine Adequan. They have made a big difference is him. He is much more active and runs and even on occasions jumps. We went from every three days to once a week and he is maintaining.

Comments about Adequan Injectable For Dogs:

"It's a miracle!" That's what my vet and I thought when he compared the before and after x-rays of my 2-year-old dog's hip. With one leg shorter than the other from a supposed injury as a pup (we got him from a shelter), long-term treatment was to either try adequan for maintenance or amputate his leg. My vet was shocked at the results after 2 years showing vast improvement as if my dog had had TPO surgery. It's not a complete fix but it will no doubt elongate his mobility.
