Baytril Otic is a highly effective treatment prescribed by many veterinarians when your pet has an ear infection caused by susceptible bacteria or fungus. <br><br><b>Baytril Otic is: </b> a liquid emulsion that is used topically directly in the ear or on the skin in order to treat susceptible bacterial and yeast infections. <br><br><b>What are the benefits? </b><ul>1.This is the first FDA approved topical solution to treat ear infections in dogs;2.Combination of ingredients is highly effective against multiple species of bacteria and yeast;3.Water-based emulsion also helps to soothe infected ears. <br><br><b>What outcomes can be expected? </b><br><br>When used as directed, Baytril Otic kills susceptible bacteria and yeast that causes infections of the skin and ears. Your pet’s symptoms should start to improve several days into treatment and infection should be resolved by the end of the prescribed course of treatment.  Do not use for more than 14 days. If symptoms are still present after treatment is complete or if your pet seems worse, contact your veterinarian for further instructions. <br><br><b>Who is it for: </b>Baytril Otic is labeled for use in dogs. <br><br><b>How is it given? </b><br><br>1. Apply directly on the skin or in the infected ear(s) according to your veterinarian’s specific instructions. exactly as directed by your veterinarian. <br><br>2. After applying each dose, massage the ear(s) gently in order to distribute the medication. <br><br> 3. If you are unsure of how to use this medication, contact your veterinarian for further instructions. <br><br><b>How does it work? </b> Enrofloxacin and silver sulfadiazine (main ingredients in Baytril Otic) work together to stop DNA synthesis  within the susceptible organism which eventually causes death and clearing of the infection. <br><br><b>Baytril Otic is available as: </b>a water-based liquid emulsion<br><br><b>Generic Name:</b>Enrofloxacin with silver sulfadiazine (Common Drug Name)<br><br><b>Common Brand Name:</b>Baytril Otic <br><br><b>Dose and Administration:</b>Baytril Otic should be applied to the skin or infected ear(s) according to your veterinarian’s exact directions. Each dose of medication should be massaged thoroughly to make sure it is distributed evenly. Give a dose as soon as you remember if you forget one but do not double dose.  Do not share this medication with other pets. Always speak to your veterinarian if your have questions about how to use Baytril Otic. <br><br><b>Uses:</b>Baytril Otic is prescribed to treat ear and skin infections.<br><br><b>Storage:</b>Baytril Otic should be kept at room temperature away from light and out of reach from children and pets. <br><br><b>Possible Side Effects: </b>Most pets experience no problems but hearing loss, vestibular (balance) disorders, and increased redness of the ear are possible. Other side effects may occur. Call your veterinarian if your pet experiences any problems while receiving Baytril Otic. <br><br><b>Precautions:</b>If your pet has an allergy to Baytril, other quinolone antibiotics, and/or sulfonamides, do not give this medication to him/her. Young dogs that are still growing (up to 24 months) can experience growth abnormalities if Baytril is given.  Animals with central nervous system (CNS) disorders, such as epilepsy, should be given Baytril cautiously only when the benefits outweigh the risks as it may induce seizures. If the ear drum is perforated, this medication should not be used. The safety in pregnant, lactating (nursing mothers), or breeding animals is unknown. <br><br>
