Product Information

Common soft tissue, dental, or bone infections can be treated with Clindamycin. Clindamycin is the generic equivalent that works to kill susceptible strains of bacteria and some protozoa.

Clindamycin is: a lincosamide antibiotic that treats sensitive bacterial and protozoal infections.

What are the benefits?

1. Treats infections in many places in the body including dental infections; 2. Also treats some protozoal infections; 3. Different sizes available for accurate dosing; 4. Safe for cats, dogs, and ferrets.

What outcomes can be expected? Clindamycin given orally as directed gets absorbed through the digestive tract and ultimately travels to the targeted organ so it can fight susceptible infections. Once susceptible bacteria/protozoa are killed, infection should subside and your pet should start feeling better. Finish all prescribed medication or infection may recur or worsen.

Who is it for: dogs, cats, and ferrets can take Clindamycin.

How is it given?

1. Always follow your veterinarian’s precise instructions regarding the use of this medication.

2. Give Clindamycin orally (by mouth) as directed by your veterinarian. Finish the entire course of medication or infection can return or worsen.

3. Clindamycin can be given directly by mouth or mixed with a small amount of food. Offer water after you give this medication.

How does it work? Clindamycin halts the growth of sensitive bacteria by stopping the production of proteins. The infection is ultimately controlled and eliminated by the body’s immune system.

Clindamycin is available as: a capsule, tablet, and liquid.
