    Ichon is used by veterinarian after surgery in order to prevent adhesions and strengthen scars. It has also been used off-label for arthritis as an injection but Ichon is not approved for this use.

    What is Ichon?This is a sterile 5mL solution containing 500mg of Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan (100mg/mL). It is used as a lavage during surgery to prevent adhesions primarily in abdominal and gynecological procedures. It is also used by veterinarians to strengthen scars after surgery.

    How is this medication given?Ichon is used as a medical device by veterinarians. It is used as a final lavage prior to surgical closure of the abdominal incision. Install at a rate of 0.013 grams / kg in a 0.9% sterile NaCl (sodium chloride) solution. The exact volume is calculated by the veterinary surgeon. Once the lavage has been performed, be sure to discard any unused portion of vial contents.

    How does this medication work?This product contains Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan (PSGAG) derived by bovine trachea. The PSGAG is applied as a final lavage by the veterinary surgeon in order to prevent post-surgical adhesions. Ichon can also aid in strengthening scars post-surgery.

    Dose and Administration:Finish all medication exactly according to your veterinarians instructions. Stopping this medication too soon can cause infection to recur or worsen. Give only to the pet it has been prescribed for. If you forget to give a dose, give it when you remember but never give two doses at once. Call your veterinarian if you have any questions.

    Uses:Zithromax is used in the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections.

    Possible Side Effects: Gastrointestinal side effects (vomiting/diarrhea) are most common. Liver damage is also possible but this is rare. Pets that are hypersensitive to this or similar medications can have a true allergic reaction. Other side effects may occur. Call your veterinarian immediately if your pet is acting ill while taking this medication.

    Drug and Food Interactions: Interactions may occur with some vitamins, supplements, cisapride, cyclosporine, digoxin, and antacids. Discuss all medications and supplements your pet is taking with your veterinarian prior to starting Zithromax.

    Precautions:Zithromax should not be given to pets who have an allergy to it or similar antibiotics. Pets with liver disease should take this medication cautiously and only if the benefits outweigh the risks.

    The risks to pregnant/lactating females are unknown. Follow-up exams or laboratory tests may be recommended by your veterinarian.

    Storage:Zithromax should be stored at room temperature out of reach from children and pets. Once powder has been reconstituted into a liquid, it should be used within 14 days.
