    What is Effipro Topical Solution for Cats? Effipro is a medication that you put on your cats skin on a monthly basis or as directed in order to protect him/her from common ectoparasites. It kills fleas, all stages of 4 species of ticks (brown dog tick, American dog tick, lone star tick, and blacklegged tick), mosquitoes, and chewing lice.
    How is this medication given? In order to use Effipro correctly, follow these instructions: Remove one applicator from the packaging and hold it upright. Remove the cap, invert it, and use the cap to push down on applicator in order to puncture it.
    Hold your cat in a comfortable position. Part the cats hair on the back between the shoulder blades until you can see the skin. Place the applicator tip directly on the skin and empty all of the solution on one spot between the shoulder blades. Make sure to apply the solution on the skin and not the hair coat.
    Apply Effipro once a month or as directed by your veterinarian. Make sure to wait at least 30 days between applications. Dosing is based on your cats body weight. This product remains effective even after bathing, shampooing, water immersion, or sunlight exposure.
    How does this medication work? Fipronil is the main ingredient in Effipro that works by attacking the nervous system of the affected insect. It blocks GABA channels which causes tremors, convulsions, and eventual death of the targeted insect.
    What results can I expect? Effipro kills and controls fleas for up to 6 weeks. It kills ticks for a month or longer. This medication also kills mosquitoes within 24 hours (for up to 14 days) and within 48 hours (for up to 28 days). It also protects your cat against chewing lice for at least 30 days. Effipro is waterproof so it still works after bathing, shampooing, and water immersion.
    What Form(s) does Effipro Topical Solution for Cats come in?It is a liquid medication that is for external use only on your cats skin. One applicator is used to protect your cat for one month. Effipro is sold in boxes containing one, three, six, or thirty-six monthly doses.

    What is Zeniquin? Zeniquin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is indicated for the treatment of susceptible infections. This medication fights infections of the skin, soft tissue, and urinary tract but it is also effective against bacteria in other parts of the body. It is given orally (by mouth) and is available with a prescription written by your veterinarian.

    Formulated for: dogs and cats that are adults. Cats and dogs should be full-grown before taking Zeniquin. Large dogs and cats should be over 12 months of age in order to receive this medication safely. Small and medium dogs should be over 8 months of age and giant breed dogs should be over 18 months of age in order to ensure safe administration.

    How does this medication work? Zeniquin is an example of a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. These antibiotics work to kill susceptible bacteria by inhibiting DNA replication.

If you do not understand how to give this medication or if have difficulty administering it, contact your veterinarian for further instructions. Make sure you use all of the medication that is prescribed even if your pet appears well. There is a higher tendency for the infection to recur or worsen if you do not complete the entire course of treatment. Provide plenty of fresh water for your pet to drink while taking this medication. Do not give this medication within two hours of giving dairy products. If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.
