Allow your dog to spend hours playing outside without worrying that he/she will become infected with heartworms, fleas, and intestinal worms. Trifexis is a chewable tablet that you can give once a month in order to kill fleas, prevent flea infestations, protect against heartworm disease, and treat/control adult hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm infections.
What is Trifexis? Trifexis is an oral preventative medication that can be given every 30 days to provide protection against fleas, heartworm, disease, and common intestinal parasites. It works to kill fleas, prevent flea infestations, protect against heartworm disease, and treat/control adult hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm infections.
Formulated for: dogs and puppies. Puppies need to be 8 weeks of age or older and must weigh 5 lbs or more in order to receive this medication safely.
How does this medication work? Milbemycin oxime and spinosad are the main ingredients that help to protect your dog from heartworms, fleas, and intestinal parasites. Milbemycin oxime works to help prevent heartworm disease. It works to kill the immature form of the heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) before heartworms have the chance to develop into adults that can cause active disease. Milbemycin is also effective in killing common adult intestinal parasites (hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms) that can cause problems in your dog. Spinosad helps to kill fleas and prevent future flea infestations by killing adult fleas and immature fleas.
What results can I expect? Trifexis works almost immediately. It starts to kill fleas within 30 minutes and can kill 100% of all biting fleas within 4 hours. It is also effective in killing flea eggs which interrupts the flea life cycle. Trifexis also prevents heartworm disease by killing microfilariae and larvae. This prevents them from developing into adults. You can also expect Trifexis to help treat and control roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms.
What Form(s) does Trifexis come in? This medication is a tablet that is flavored and chewable.
