This is the primary diet for our 18-yr old (soon to be 19) Tonkinese cat who is allergic to many things, including plastic. She tolerates this food very well and has fewer trips to the vet with nausea/vomiting/diarrhea since this has become her mainstay meal. We keep the dry version of Z/D on hand for her as well. The only other food she seems to digest is the A/D version but it is not recommended as a primary diet so it is only offered to her infrequently.

Need smaller canns

"Wheezer" will eat but we waste half a can most times because he won't eat it after it's been open for a little while. Wish it came in smaller than 5.5 oz

New formula

By Lily24

from Medford, MA, United States

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

My cat was doing great on the z/d food, but now won't eat the new formula. I am so upset because it was the only food that was helping with her allergies. :(

Just put my two cats in ...

By KlassyKathy

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

Just put my two cats in ZD. They were on DD duck & pea. One cat was on it for years. They still scratched all the time. My flat faced cat has horrible face & ear issues. Vet changed to ZD. Only on it few days. They love the jello like canned ( why is it like this????) but hate the dry. Can't afford to feed just the canned so they will have to get used to it. Flat faced one has terrible time trying to eat such small bites. Falls out of his mouth before he can chew it. Let you know in a few weeks how it's going. I agree with other lady. Need coupons.

Vomiting Cat

By Katy2020

from Cary, NC, United States

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

My Vet prescribed the z/d formula for my cats intestinal distress. Not only has she stopped vomiting, SHE LOVES IT!! My only suggestion is I wish it came in smaller cans. She is 6 years old and only weighs 7.5 lbs. so a can lasts her like 3 days.

Great food

By SueP

from La Mesa, CA, United States

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

My cat has been eating z/d dry food for several years and he is really doing well. I want to add the canned food to give him a little variety and he does love it..... but only on the first day. I wish you would offer z/d in the small cans as you do many of the other prescription products for different issues. It is very me - I always throw the second half of the can in the trash. Thank you

Hills: Consider selling both old and new formula

By KFoster

from Toledo, OH, United States

Comments about Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Ultra Allergen-Free Feline Canned Food:

To whom it may concern at Hills: Since so many people liked the old formula, and their cats did well on it, might you consider selling both old and new formulas concurrently -- at least until you finalize the improvements to the new formula that you indicated in your responses is currently being further improved to better match the old formula? If the retooled new formula takes months to get to market, you risk losing a loyal customer base. I personally am not familiar with the old formula, only the new formula, and based on appearance, I'm a bit concerned that it looks a bit jello-like (just doesn't look anything like a desired food for an obligate carnivore). I'd love to have the opportunity to try the old formula, as others have indicated their excitement for it.
